Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #21

Hi everyone, hope you're having a great Wednesday! :) I was able to get together with my friend Jen this morning and go for a walk, so today is off to a great start! If only I had the motivation to go for one every day, now that'd be somethin'! :) I really struggle with keeping my motivation for exercise, or drinking water, or eating less processed food, etc. I know that these things are important, but sometimes I just. can't. do. it. You'd think that with family histories of some gnarly stuff, I'd really want to do whatever I can to avoid them, but alas, I still struggle. *sigh* If you live a healthy-ish lifestyle, how do you it? What keeps you going day to day?

Okay, okay, I'll stop rambling... On to today's card! :)

Today's card was created for the Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #21: Aqua, Lemon, Chocolate, and Cream. Such pretty, happy colors that you could really use for just about any occasion or time of year. I chose to focus my card more on spring and how it makes me feel... Happy! :) I'm not a huge fan of summer because I tend to run on the hot side anyway year-round (LOL, flip flops anyone?), and when you couple that with my body's resistance to sweating, I pass out when I get too hot. LOL, definitely embarrassing! So, spring time is the bestest! :)

Instructions:
  • Cut cream CS to 6" x 7", score at 3 1 /2" and fold in half to create a 3 1/2" x 6" card base.
  • Stamp sentiment in brown ink.
  • Stamp background pattern with versamark ink and heat set with clear embossing powder.
  • Stamp brown polka dots onto aqua CS, then punch scalloped edge.
  • Stamp diamond background on yellow CS, and adhere to aqua CS.
  • Add ribbon to aqua/yellow CS, then attach to card base.
  • Stamp leaf image onto aqua CS, cut out, and attach to card base.
  • Embellish with rhinestones.

Supplies:
Stamps - Background Basics: Retro, Background Basics: Diamonds, Polka Dot Basics 2, Signature Greetings, Turning a New Leaf
Ink - Versamark, Aqua Mist, Dark Chocolate, Lemon Tart
Paper - Vintage Cream, Aqua Mist, Lemon Tart
Miscellaneous - Brown Rhinestones, Clear Embossing Powder, Lemon Tart Grosgrain Ribbon, Fiskars Embossed Curve Punch

  2. Girl, I am so jealous of your skill to make backgrounds. Do you use ANY patterned paper? LOL This is a great card. Love it – and love the little teeny tiny bling accents.

  3. LOVE IT! The rhinestones are a perfect touch! My advice for you is meal planning. That helps tremendously and limits the processed food runs that I was addicted to. I gave up frozen meals a year ago! Now, I'm addicted to Food Network and cooking sites...UGH!

  4. I love your bright happy card! I think you are on the right track - exercising with a friend. You will motivate each other! 1/2 hour a few days a week is doable I think! For me, this year I plan to eat less meat. And more salads. We make a salad with the basic: lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, carrots. Then add chopped walnuts and cranberries which give it good flavor. And for protein, some tuna or chicken breasts grilled on the George Foreman. It's such a quick and healthy meal for after work.... Good luck! I need it too :)

  10. Hmmm... what's the word I'm looking for? Oh yea... AMAZING. Love this card with all my crafty heart - it SO makes me smile. :-)

Ummm the discipline thing... I stink at it. Find some yummy recipes that are healthy, cook in bulk & step on the gas when you see a fast food joint in the near distance...lol! And walking w/a friend is the BEST! Another reason I wish I was your neighbor... ;-)

  13. This is gorgeous!! I love how you can bring all of these elements and patterns together and make it rock!

I have no healthy tips for you. The only health related thing I do is take a probiotic everyday. I started a few years ago and now I rarely get sick. I would like to start running, but that entails actually buying a pair of sneakers. I mostly own flip flops myself. ;)

  16. I wish I could stamp the way you do. Your cards always look so unique with that special touch that my stamping could not duplicate if it tried. I love the colors and you always have the best bows! Don't feel bad about the motivation to exercise and family history - I'm the same (and older, so it's worse). But I think one day at a time and we'll both find ourselves there doing daily without thinking about it! :D

  21. This is awesome, Heather! I love the combo of backgrounds you used!

As far as the healthy stuff, I'm not really one to be giving advice. One thing that has changed for me a little is the way I feel when I eat too much processed foods. I cut fried foods out of my diet completely and it's a made a big difference! Hmm...now only if I can somehow cut chocolate cake out....

  25. I've been hitting the treadmill pretty hard for the past six months, and I'm pretty proud of myself, LOL. here's what finally did it for me... we can't have children. We've done everything we could to have them, for two years. And after that was exhausted, I realized that there won't be anyone to take care of us when we're older. It's up to us. And we better get as healthy as we can, NOW, since it was going to be on us to live a nice healthy life.

Heavy thought, but true. We're in this life to make the best of it. The healthier you are, the better your quality of life will be, and the easier it will be to avoid any family history of preventable diseases.

As far as processed foods, shop at a store that doesn't sell any. Like Whole Foods. If there is one nearby. No chance of being tempted if it's not sold there. That's my trick.
