TLC131 & CC129 Challenge Card

This card was created for the TLC131 (Emboss Resist & Versamark Resist) & CC129 (Pretty In Pink, Old Olive & Purely Pomegranate) Challenges on SCS.

I wanted to make a card that didn't cover up too much of the embossed/versamark resist background, so this is what I settled on.

I started with a Pretty In Pink CS base of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2", then cut out the other layers: Old Olive 4 x 5 1/4", Purely Pomegranate 3 3/4 x 5, Glossy White 3 5/8 x 4 7/8.

For the emboss resist technique, I stamped the large True Friends flower in Versamark Ink randomly on the Glossy White CS, then sprinkled it with clear embossing powder before heating it with the heat gun. Then I stamped the smaller flower circle randomly in Versamark Ink, then used sponges to add Pretty In Pink & Old Olive inks to the Glossy White CS. After that, I used the corner rounder and ticket punches on my various layers, and assembled them.

Then I stamped my sentiment in Old Olive ink on Whisper White CS, and layered it. I used my corner rounder to scallop the bottom edge of the sentiment.

I stamped the True Friend flower in Old Olive, then again in Purely Pomegranate and Pretty In Pink. I cut out the various layers, and assembled them with mini-pop dots. The different pieces of the card were assembled, then I added the ribbon to finish it off.

Stamps - True Friend, God's Blessings
Ink - Old Olive, Pretty In Pink
Paper - Pretty In Pink, Old Olive, Purely Pomegranate, Glossy White, Whisper White
Miscellaneous - Purely Pomegranate Double Stitched Ribbon, White & Pink Taffeta Ribbons

Blessings of the Season...

Happy Tuesday!

I kept changing things around on this card, but I've glued everything down now, so it's finished! LOL

My husband is on vacation this week, so it's always fun to listen to the interaction between him and our 2 year old. He uses a silly voice when he talks to her, so I just sit down here and giggle most of the morning.

Sketch #1

Laura, The Stampin' Soldier, uploaded a sketch on her blog that I think is so fun! You can see the sketch here. I really like sketches, I think they're such a great starting point... You can give 5 people the same sketch, but no two cards will ever look the same. Gotta love that! :)
I goofed up the stamped image a little (yes, I just HAD to keep messing with it... LOL, if only it had an UNDO button!!) , but otherwise I'm pretty happy with the end result. Semi-fast, but totally fun!
Wishing you all safe travels in the morning! Ugh, Monday's!!

Weekend Sketch Challenge #16

Here's what I came up with using Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #16 sketch. :) You can find Beate's original post and fabulous sample here. I really liked this sketch, I think it can be used SO many different ways!

I wasn't sure what size the card was supposed to be, so this is a little on the large side... :P I started with a Chocolate Chip CS base of 4 1/4 x 7", and then cut out my Purely Pomegranate and Soft Sky layers. Then I stamped my flower image in Purely Pomegranate onto Whisper White, and layered it on top of Soft Sky and Chocolate Chip CS.

I placed my stamped image onto the larger Soft Sky layer to get an idea of where I wanted to stamp the flourishes. Once the flourishes were stamped with Chocolate Chip, I stamped the sentiment in Purely Pomegranate... Lucky for me it lined up perfectly on the first try! I have a Stamp-a-majig, but never seem to have my hands on it when I need it, so usually I end up eyeballing things. It doesn't always work so well! LOL

I adhered all my layers, used my paper piercer to poke a few holes, added a little ribbon and voila, it's done! :)

Stamps - Stem Silhouettes, Priceless
Ink - Purely Pomegranate, Chocolate Chip
Paper - Chocolate Chip, Purely Pomegranate, Soft Sky, Whisper White

SC138 Challenge Card

This is the card I created for the SCS Sketch Challenge 138... It was a bit of a stretch for me, but over all I think it turned out okay! :)

I started with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" card base of Sahara Sand, then cut out my other layers: Real Rust 4 x 5 1/4", Whisper White 3 7/8 x 5 1/8", Fall Flowers DS squares 2 1/8 x 1 1/2".

I used my photo corners punch with the scraps of Fall Flowers DS paper, and my ticket punch on the corners of the Whisper White layer.

The Real Rust layer was adhered to the card base, and the small Fall Flower squares were attached to the Whisper White layer. Then the Groovy Guava Ribbon was added before attaching all the layers together.

I stamped the flower image onto the 2" square piece of Whisper White, but it left a little too much white space, so I scalloped the edge to lessen it a little. LOL I then attached it to the Groovy Guava 2 1/8" square layer and attached it using pop dots.

Details:
Stamps - True Friend, So Many Sayings
Ink - Real Rust, Sahara Sand, Groovy Guava, Chocolate Chip
Paper - Sahara Sand, Real Rust, Whisper White, Groovy Guava, Fall Flowers DS
Miscellaneous - Groovy Guava Double Stitched Ribbon

You Friend...

It seems like I played with this forever until I finally found a layout that was okay. LOL, so sad! It's much better than the Christmas card I threw together... Oh my goodness, talk about the stamping hall of shame! I'm still undecided about whether or not to actually show anyone else or just burn it and pretend it wasn't ever in my possession... LOL

Happy Wednesday! :)

Stamps - True Friend, Doodle Wheel
Ink - Chocolate Chip, Real Rust
Paper - Real Rust, Very Vanilla, Outlaw DS
Miscellaneous - Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, Chipboard Flower, Button, Brads

Make a Wish

I'm actually going to head off to bed before it gets too late (I know, I know, how rare!), so this is going to be a super short post. You'll be happy to hear that my daughter did manage to keep herself dressed today at grandma's! LOL Baby steps, right?? :)

Hope you all had a wonderful Monday!

Stamps - Fun & Fast Notes, So Many Sayings
Ink - Chocolate Chip, Sahara Sand, Pretty In Pink, Certainly Celery, So Saffron
Paper - Sahara Sand, Certainly Celery DS, Whisper White, Pretty In Pink, Certainly Celery
Miscellaneous - Kraft Taffeta Ribbon

Thanks SO Much...

So... My daughter turned two on Mother's Day, and to say that she is a spirited child would be putting it mildly. LOL She is the sweetest little girl, but oooooh my goodness she has a fierce temper, especially when you don't want her to do something that she has her heart set on doing. She's not quite ready for potty training yet, but doesn't want to wear diapers either. See my dilema?? Letting her run around naked wouldn't be a ~huge~ deal if say we lived in a locker room. Unfortunately, we don't. :P

Today, she thought it would be fun to rip off her diaper repeatedly while we were at Church. LOL... I wasn't there while this was happening, but was informed when we went to get her that Lindsay wasn't wearing anything under her dress because she wouldn't keep her diaper on. You just never know what's coming next! Apparently we're going to be putting her in jeans or jean shorts she can't unfasten for the next bajillion Sunday's until she's moved on to her next obsession. :)

Here's another quickie that's super easy using Fun & Fast Notes... I think this little birdie is just too cute! :) I started out with a Groovy Guava card base, and cut out my other layers: Certainly Celery DS 4 x 5 1/4", Soft Sky DS 3 3/4 x 5". I used my corner rounder to scallop the top and bottom edges of the Soft Sky DS paper. I then attached them to the card base, and stamped my sentiment in Basic Gray.

Next, I cut out two strips of paper (Groovy Guava and Groovy Guava DS), and attached the Basic Gray ribbon before adhering the strips to the base.

Lastly, I layered my Certainly Celery and Soft Sky CS, and colored in my Fun & Fast Notes stamped image before attaching it to the layers, and then onto the card base with pop dots. Super simple, but cute!

Weekend Sketch Challenge #15

One of the ladies at our church is expecting her first baby in November... Look at me getting a jump on the card!! :) I'm typically a huge procrastinator, so this is definitely a step in the right direction...

I used Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #15 for the layout of the card. The original post can be found here. I'm sure you're all already familiar with Beate's sketches, but if not, drop everything and go check them out! :)

I started with a 5 1/4" square card base of Pretty In Pink CS. Then I cut out my other layers: Soft Sky DS 5" square, Groovy Guava DS 4 3/4 x 2 1/2", Certainly Celery DS 2 1/2 x 4".

I went a little flower crazy on this card, so I took a couple of minutes to color them with Groovy Guava and Pretty In Pink ink before working on assembling the card. I love these Pretties Flowers, they dry SO fast! :)

On the Groovy Guava layer, I used my corner rounder to give it a scalloped edge, then used my Crop-a-dile to punch the small holes. I attached all of the DS layers together, then added the ribbon before adhering it all to the card base. I stamped the Fun & Fast Notes baby carriage in Basic Gray and colored it in lightly with Groovy Guava. I used my Sakura Glitter Pen to give a little sparkle to all the dots, but it's hard to see in the photo. I finished the card by stamping my sentiment, and then adding all of the flowers around the outside edge of the image.

Details:
Stamps - Fun & Fast Notes, Hugs & Wishes
Ink - Basic Gray, Groovy Guava
Paper - Pretty In Pink, Soft Sky DS, Groovy Guava DS, Certainly Celery DS, Whisper White
Miscellaneous - White Tafetta Ribbon, Pretties Flowers & Pearls, Sakura Glitter Pen

Thank U

This will probably have to be a quick post... My daughter shut herself inside her room, so it's anyone's guess what she's up to right now! LOL I have visions of her diaper drawer being emptied in the middle of the room, all the books off of the shelves, her pj drawer opened and clothes strewn about. Two is a great age! :P

I started with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" Wild Wasabi CS base, and the following layers: Soft Sky 3 1/4 x 3 1/4", Basic Gray 2 3/4 x 2 3/4", Groovy Guava 2 5/8 x 2 5/8". I stamped the True Friend flower onto Whisper White CS, then cut it out to fit onto the Groovy Guava layer.

After getting those layers cut out and adhered, I attached them to the card front and started cutting out the strips for the bottom of the card: Groovy Guava 1 3/4 x 4 1/4", Soft Sky 1 5/8 x 4 1/4", Basic Gray 1 1/2 x 4 1/4". I stamped the smaller flower image in Basic Gray onto the Basic Gray layer, then added some ribbon before finishing it off with my scalloped sentiment.
Lindsay is being WAAAAAY too quiet, so I've gotta run. Enjoy your Friday! :)

A true friend...

I hope you're all having a wonderful Thursday! Traffic wasn't as bad as it could've been, so I made it here just about on time. Whoo hoooo! Some days my commute takes an hour an 45 minutes, and others it takes almost twice that! School will be starting back up in a couple of weeks, so traffic will return to it's horrendous proportions shortly! :( Oh well, summer was nice while it lasted! :)

I wanted to make a card using my new True Friend stamp set... I just ~love~ these stamps! I really like that the stamps in the Holiday Mini are die cut... Talk about a time saver! Peel, stick, stamp! LOL

I started with a standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" card base in Soft Sky. I then cut out a little strip of Groovy Guava (2 x 5 1/2") and stamped the large flower image randomly before adhering it to a strip of Basic Gray CS. I also stamped my main image in Basic Gray on Whisper White (2 x 3"), then layered that with Basic Gray after adding a clear rhinestone to the center of the flower, and adding a little white taffeta ribbon. I used my mono to attach the two layers to the card front, and then stamped my sentiment in Soft Sky. You can't really see the sparkle in the photo, but I used my Sakura glitter pen to give it a little shimmer.

Stamps - True Friend
Ink - Soft Sky, Groovy Guava, Basic Gray
Paper - Soft Sky, Groovy Guava, Basic Gray, Whisper White
Miscellaneous - Clear Rhinestone Brad, White Taffeta Ribbon

Color Challenge CC127

This card was created for the CC127 Color Challenge on SCS. We were supposed to create a card using Blue Bayou, Chocolate Chip and Sahara Sand. I really like this color combo, and will definitely refer back to it again...

I started with the usual 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" card base in Chocolate Chip, then cut out my other layers: Blue Bayou (4 1/8 x 5 3/8"), Blue Bayou DS (4 x 5 1/4"), Sahara Sand (3 x 4 1/4"), Whisper White (2 3/4 x 4").

The Stem Silhouettes image was stamped in Blue Bayou, and Kraft Taffeta Ribbon was used as an accent. I used my scallop punch with Blue Bayou DS paper, and punched out a 1 3/8" circle of Sahara Sand. My sentiment was stamped using Chocolate Chip, and then punched out with the 1 1/4" circle punch.

Details:
Stamps - Stem Silhouettes

Ink - Blue Bayou, Chocolate Cihp

Paper - Chocolate Chip, Blue Bayou, Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Blue Bayou DS

Miscellaneous - Kraft Taffetta Ribbon, Brads, Scallop Punch, 1 3/8" & 1 1/4" Circle Punches

Weekend Sketch Challenge #14

It's almost 2:30 in the morning, but I'm determined to get this uploaded before I go to bed! LOL, if only I had such determination in other areas of my life! :P I'm a little tired, so pleeease try to ignore any typos or random sentences that don't make a whole hill of beans sense!

This card was created for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #14 (original post can be found here).

Stamps - Friend to Friend, Brocade Basics

Ink - Mellow Moss

Paper - Outlaw DS, Chocolate Chip, Mellow Moss, Very Vanilla

Miscellaneous - Chocolate Taffetta Ribbon, Clear Rhinestone Bling

Sketch Challenge - SC136

Here is the card I came up with for the SC136 sketch challenge... Pretty fun! The original post can be found here.

I started with a standard sized Chocolate Chip CS base, then cut out my layers using Basic Grey's Infuse line. I used my Marvy mega circle punch to cut out my half circle, and used my aqua painter to add some color to my flowers. At first I painted them with the Old Olive pad, then decided at the last minute I wanted them to be a little more brown so I added Chocolate Chip. They're kind of a weird greeny/brown color! LOL Oh well, you win some, you lose some, right? :)

Details:
Stamps - Friend to Friend
Ink - Chocolate Chip, Old Olive
Paper - Chocolate Chip CS, Basic Grey Infuse
Miscellaneous - Chocolate Taffetta Ribbon, Pretties Flowers & Pearl, Brads

Color Challenge - CC126

This challenge was a toughie! We were supposed to use Blue Bayou, Soft Sky and Cameo Coral. I don't think I've ~ever~ used Cameo Coral on a card... I'm definitely more of a Groovy Guava girl, but I enjoyed trying to figure out how I was going to incorporate the Cameo Coral into my layout. The original challenge can be found here.

Details:
Stamps - Ginormous Flowers, Friend to Friend
Ink - Cameo Coral
Paper - Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Cameo Coral, Whisper White
Miscellaneous - Blue Rhinestone Brad, Silver Brads

SCS Challenge - CC125

I'm sitting here waiting to hear the word about my car, so I thought I'd post a new card. It's always fun to wake up your sleeping child to head down to grandma's, only to find that your car stalls out after starting... repeatedly. I managed to ~finally~ get my car started, took it to the closest repair shop and waited for them to open, only find that it would be several hours before they could even run a diagnostic check on it. So... Almost 5 hours later, here we are... waiting. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's something super simple to fix and won't take forever to get done (read: I need my car back today!).

Yeeees, I know, it's yet another card made with Garden Silhouettes... LOL I promise I'll put it away soon! :P

This card was for the SCS Color Challenge... from last week. :) We were supposed to use Close to Cocoa, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery. I started with a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" base of Close to Cocoa, and attached a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Bashful Blue. I cut out my Certainly Celery layer (2 1/2" x 4"), and placed my stamped image on Whisper White (2 1/2" x 3 3/4") on top. (You can't see it in the picture, but the stamped image is shimmery.) To finish it off I placed a piece of Chocolate Taffetta Ribbon on the top layers before attaching them to the card.

Greatest is Love...

Another quickie... :) I started with a 5 1/2" x 4 1/2" So Saffron CS card base, a 3 1/2" x 3 3/4" Sahara Sand layer, and a 3 1/4" x 3 1/2" Whisper White layer.

I used a stamp from the Priceless set to randomly stamp So Saffron and Sahara Sand flowers. I first inked up the flower stamp, stamped it once on scrap paper, then stamped it the second time on my Whisper White layer. I wanted the impressions from the stamp to be a little more subdoed. Once I was finished stamping the flowers, I stamped my Elegant Greetings sentiment in Purely Pomegranate, adhered the WW and SS layers, then attached my Double Stitched Ribbon.

I glued down the layers to my card base, then stamped the flourishes in Sahara Sand. To finish off the card, I stamped the heart from Priceless onto a piece of scrap paper in Purely Pomegranate, and cut it out before attaching it to the card with pop dots.

Stamps - Priceless, Elegant Inspirations
Ink - So Saffron, Sahara Sand, Purely Pomegranate
Paper - Whisper White, So Saffron, Sahara Sand
Miscellaneous - Purely Pomegranate Double Stitched Ribbon

Kids & Their Attachments...

It was close to 100 degrees here today, and I thought it would be fun to take our daughter to the playground (read: I wanted her to tucker out). :) Just as we're getting ready to walk out the door, she grabs her Play-Doh and ~refuses~ to let go of it. Her pacifier? Decided she didn't want it once she turned 4 months... Her bottle? Didn't shed a tear when I took it away one day... Favorite stuffed animal/blanket? Never had one she couldn't be without... But Play-Doh?? That's gotta go everywhere! VBS? You betcha! Grocery store? Yes! Playground? Absolutely! LOL

SCS Challenge - VI

This card was created for the SCS Serendipity Challenge... This was super hard for me, and I'm not totally in love with it, but I'm posting anyway! :P

The theory behind this technique is to randomly stamp a piece of paper with various inks and stamps, then cut it out into smaller shapes. The design team over at SCS made it look SO easy! LOL Guess that's why they're doing what they're doing, right? :)

Details:
Stamps - Flowers & Flourishes, Fancy Pants Bella Brush
Ink - Groovy Guava, Soft Sky, Basic Black
Paper - Blue Bayou, River Rock, Groovy Guava, Soft Sky, Whisper White
Miscellaneous - Soft Sky, Groovy Guava and Blue Bayou Double Stitched Ribbon

SCS Challenge - V

Here's another card I created for one of the SCS Challenges from early last week. For this challenge we needed to incorporate black on the card to help make it pop.

I started with a 4 1/4" square card base of Certainly Celery CS and a 2 1/4" square piece of Basic Black CS. I stamped my Garden Silhouettes image in Basic Black on Whisper White CS, then trimmed it to fit. I adhered the image onto the Basic Black square, and attached the Purely Pomegranate Double Stitched Ribbon. Once that was finished, I attached the layer to my card base and used my Sakura Glitter Pen to give the flower image a little more sparkle. :)

Better late than never...

Last week's SCS Try a New Technique Challenge was to create a cut out card. The original challenge can be found here.

I started with a standard sized Groovy Guava CS base of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I cut my other layers as follows... Basic Gray 4" x 5", Soft Sky 3 3/4" x 4 3/4", Whisper White 3 1/4" x 4 1/2". Once I had all my layers cut out, I stamped my Elegant Insprations sentiment in Basic Gray on the Whisper White CS. I also stamped the flower image from Garden Silhouettes onto the Soft Sky layer, lightly traced a rectangle with my pencil, and used my precision tip scissors to cut out the portion of the stamped image inside the rectangle. Once that was done, I used my paper trimmer to cut out the remainder of the rectangle. I adhered all of my layers together, used my Signo White Gel Pen to give the flowers a little more detail, and attached the brads and Basic Gray Taffetta Ribbon.

Stamps - Garden Silhouettes, Elegant Inspirations
Ink - Basic Gray, Soft Sky
Paper - Groovy Guava, Basic Gray, Soft Sky, Whisper White
Miscellaneous - Basic Gray Taffetta Ribbon, Silver Brads

Weekend Sketch Challenge #13

Here's the card I created for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #13. You can find her original post here. I loved this sketch!

I started with a Soft Sky CS base of 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", and then scored the CS at 5 1/2" and 8 1/8". I used Basic Black ink on my Baroque background stamp, then folded over the small Soft Sky strip of paper and used ribbon to secure it together.

I then used my corner rounder on two pieces of scrap paper (Basic Black & Whisper White), and pierced the black layer before adhering it to the white layer. These were then attached to the stamped portion of the card. I stamped the sentiment from Flowers & Flourishes in Basic Black ink, and stamped my Garden Silhouettes image onto Whisper White CS. I don't have exact dimensions for the image, I just used my paper trimmer to cut it to a size I liked. :) I then layered it onto a piece of Basic Black CS and adhered it to the card. Super easy!

Paper - Soft Sky, Basic Black, Whisper White
Stamps - Baroque, Garden Silhouettes, Flowers & Flourishes
Ink - Basic Black
Miscellaneous - Black Double Stitched Ribbon

SCS Challenge - IV

This is the last card I had created for another one of the SCS sketch challenges... Hopefully I'll get some time to work on more of them in the near future. They had 36 challenges... And I've completed 4. LOL

Details:

Stamps - Garden Silhouettes
Paper - Basic Grey Stella Ruby, Groovy Guava, Very Vanilla
Ink - Groovy Guava, Chocolate Chip
Miscellaneous - Wild Wasabi Double Stitched Ribbon, Pearls from Pretties Kit
