Ever Thankful for You

Hi, everyone! :) Hope this week has been treating you well! I'm getting ready to head out to the store in a few minutes, but first wanted to stop by and post a card I created.  The stamped pattern on this card is a super old Stampin' Up! background called Linograph.  I've had this stamp for ages, but wouldn't you know it, I haven't actually EVER used it before.  Totally ridiculous... I should make it a point to go back through all my stamp sets and make a card using them... Nahhhhhh. :P LOL

I posted on my Facebook this morning about our dryer that went kaput, and the responses are pretty much 50/50.  Half of the people like to match, and the other half just replace what's broken.  Our washer/dryer came with the house when we moved in 6 years ago, so I don't know exactly when they were purchased.  Just by looking at them, I'm thinking the washer has to be my age (seriously... lol), but the dryer is much newer (that doesn't say a lot 'cause it's pretty darn old too).  On the one hand, I'd reeeeeeally like them to match (LOL, especially seeing as there would be about a 30 year difference between the two), but on the other hand, I hate to just get rid of a machine that is a total workhorse because newer appliances just aren't built to last.  Oh well, it'll get sorted out... eventually. :)

Have a great one!

Supplies:
Stamps - Linograph (Stampin' Up!), Studio G (Sentiment)
Paper - Aqua Mist, Stamper's Select White
Ink - True Black, Versamark
Miscellaneous - Turquoise Rhinetsones (Want2Scrap), Clear Embossing Powder, Old Olive Grosgrain Ribbon, Nestabilities

Embellish Magazine Blog Hop

Hi, everyone! I'm back with a card I created as part of the Embellish Magazine blog hop. Many of the designers in the premier issue are taking part, and our challenge was to create another card using brown, kraft, red and turquoise, as well as twine.

I used one of my favorite images from Hero Arts on my card, the dogwood flowers. I love, love, love these blooms! They look great stamped as a line art image, colored realistically, or even colored using bolder hues. They're just super pretty flowers.

Embellish is offering four prizes for 10 lucky winners. Be sure to stop by each of the participants blogs, and leave a comment for your chance to win! The winners will be randomly selected from each of the blog hop participant blogs, and prizes include Lawn Fawn stamps, May Arts twine, a Subscription to Embellish Magazine, and A New Design crinkly stained ribbon. Awesome, right?? :) What're you waiting for? Get your hop on! :) Up next is the lovely Regan!

Here is the complete list of participants if you'd like to start from the beginning:

Happy hopping! :)

Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge - Bling It On!

Hello, ello! :) It's a new day, and I'm back again with another post... I can't believe how cold it's been this winter... LOL, it's been so cold (for our area) I've had to start wearing a scarf. (Yes, I'm still in flip flops, but at least I am bundling up a little more. Haha... Baby steps!)

This card was created for this week's Jacksonbelle Embellishments Tuesday Challenge. This week, we're blingin' it on! I used Zva pearls to fill in all the little circle spaces within the medallion image. A perfect way to kick it up a notch. :)

Want to play along? Simply upload your bling card to your SCS or PCP gallery using the keyword JBEO88 or post a comment on the JBE blog linking to your blog. We would love to see what you come up with!

MTSC54 - Best Birthday

Hi everyone! I hope your week is off to a great start. :) Today marks the first day that schools in the area are open after Christmas break... It's been a long two weeks for my daughter, and she was so ready to go back! :)

This card was created using the Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #54 sketch, and some of the new Jacksonbelle Embellishment goodies I received. Happy mail is the best, and I couldn't wait to tear into this My Mind's Eye paper! :)

I combined two different stamp sets to create my image (a SU! bird set, and Basic Grey clear stamps). Since I was working with wooden stamps and acrylic stamps, I stamped the wood block bird image first (since it would be easier to line up the clear stamp sentiment in the right position than the reverse w/out a stamp-a-majig).

The sparkly pom-pom was snagged from my daughter's crafting stash... LOL! I figure she borrows my stuff all the time, it's only fair. *wink* The full pom-pom was too puffy and wouldn't lay flat, so I carefully cut off most of the back side before attaching it with Crystal Effects. (Just FYI - If you cut it right in half, the pom-pom will burst).

Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope you have a great day! :)

Instructions

  • Cut A2 card base from Bermuda Bay CS.
  • Cut two strips of patterned paper (1 3/4" x 4 1/4", and 2" x 4 1/4").
  • Cut a piece of Lemon Tart CS to 1 3/4" x 4 1/4" and stamp with white polka dots.
  • Add a strip of Pure Poppy Grosgrain ribbon to the bottom of the Lemon Tart CS.
  • Use punch to create scalloped edge on a strip of white CS.
  • Arrange strips to your liking, then adhere to card base.
  • Stamp bird image in Memento Black ink, then line up and stamp sentiment underneath. Color with Copics.
  • Stamp party hat image onto separate scrap piece of white CS and color with Copics.
  • Use a Nestabilities die to cut out main image.
  • Cut out hat, adhere to main image, and add sparkly pom-pom.
  • Tie Pure Poppy bow and attach to the card base.

Supplies:
Stamps - Polka Dot Basics 2 (PTI), A Little Birdie Told Me (SU!), Basic Grey Clear Stamps
Ink - Memento Black, Fresh Snow, Copics
Paper - Bermuda Bay, Lemon Tart, Stamper's Select White, My Mind's Eye "Love Me Do"
Miscellaneous - Nestabilities Labels Nine, Fiskars Embossed Curve Punch, Pure Poppy Grosgrain, Sparkle Pom-Pom

2S4Y41 - Little Things

Hi everyone! How are your weekend plans shaping up? We were supposed to be hosting a small family Christmas party here for 15 people, but it looks as though we're going to have to cancel due to snow. Our forecasters are predicting ohhhh a FOOT, so I'm guessing it's going to dampen our plans. :( I've been staying up even later than usual working on things trying to get the house ready, and wrapping the gifts for my hubby's family who were going to be here tomorrow (since we won't be seeing them on Christmas). LOL, I feel like it was all for naught! Okay, pity party over, I feel better now that I've gotten it out of my system... *wink*

This card was created using the 2 Sketches 4 You #41 sketch. I flipped the sketch on the side, and the card measures 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" (it's a 1/2" shorter to allow for the butterfly overhang).

This card came together pretty easily... I love it when that happens! It's a little on the bright side, but it's just what I need to perk me back up!

I'm off to do some baking with my daughter... How fitting is it that we were going to make snowflake cookies for her friends this year!!! :) Have a great weekend!

Supplies:
Stamps - Happiness Always, Polka Dot Basics
Ink - Kiwi Kiss, True Black, Fresh Snow
Paper - Stamper's Select White, Bermuda Bay, Black & White Basics
Miscellaneous - Raspberry Fizz Grosgrain Ribbon, Sizzix Butterfly Die, Raspberry Fizz Button, Spring Moss Button

MTSC50 - Thanks!

Hi everyone! :) I created this card using the most recent Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge sketch.

To make the leaf image pop out of the circle, I first stamped the leaves in spring moss ink onto white CS, then grabbed a container of SU! brads. I positioned the container on the paper, then used my xacto knife to trace around the outer edge (stopping on either side of the leaves I wanted outside) before using scissors to cut around the outer leaves. LOL, it probably would've been easier to use a Coluzzle than finding some random circular container, but I don't have one! :)

Have a great one!

Supplies:
Stamps - Background Basics: Diamonds, Background Basics: Retro, Turning a New Leaf, Woodgrain
Ink - Versamark, Fresh Snow, Spring Moss, True Black
Paper - Kraft, Spring Moss, Bermuda Bay, Summer Sunrise, Stamper's Select White
Miscellaneous - Fiskars Embossed Curve Punch

MTSC44 - Happy Birthday

Happy Tuesday to you! :) I created this card using the most recent Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge sketch. It's hard to see, but I used shimmer white card stock for the sentiment panel.

I've been taking my photos outside lately, and the wind was wrecking havoc on my little set-up today. :) I think it took about twenty tries to get a photo where the paper wasn't being blown all over the place! LOL

Have a great one! :)

Supplies:
Stamps - In Bloom, Birthday Basics
Ink - Bermuda Bay, Stazon Black, Memento Black, Copics
Paper - Bermuda Bay, Stamper's Select White, Shimmer White, Kiwi Kiss, Thoroughly Modern DSP

Miss You

Happy Thursday! Where has this week gone? It feels like forever since I last posted, but that seems a little dramatic since it was only Monday... LOL :) I spent the majority of Monday and Tuesday getting materials ready for a mini-album class I had on Tuesday evening. A huge amount of work, but it's fun. :)

I made this card a while back, but hadn't had a chance to post it on the ol' bloggo until now. I'm working on a few things today, but didn't want to go yet *another* day without a post! :)

Have a great one!

2S4Y35 - I Can Do All Things...

It's almost Friday, guys! LOL, well, it may very well BE Friday by the time you see this post. :) No huge plans for us this weekend... We were kicking around the idea of going to a county fair.... My daughter is obsessed with animals, so she'd probably have a great time looking at the cows and pigs and things, but I dunno, we'll just have to wait and see. :)

Lookie! A NON In-Bloom card! It didn't seem possible, did it? Hahah, truth be told, I have another In-Bloom card waiting in the wings for tomorrow. LOL

This card was created using the current 2 Sketches 4 You sketch. I love this paper, and am reeeeeally trying to break out of the hoarding habit, so I figured what better way to do that than to *USE* it! :)

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you have a great night!

My Wonderful Friend

This is just a quick card I made a couple months back that I didn't have a chance to post until now. Quick and easy, seems to be my "go to" card type! :) LOL, okay okay, relatively quick, I *am* a slow stamper after all!

Sorry for the super short post, I've got my daughter's head cold and my brain is a little wonky today, so it's hard to think... LOL

Have a great one!

CAS32 - Wishing You...

Hey! Top of the mornin' to ya! :) Today's Clean & Simple Challenge on SCS was to create wedding cards. LOL, surprise, surprise, I reached for In Bloom... Yet again! This set might just be my favorite EVER. :)

I stamped the flower and leaf images in Versamark ink, then heat embossed them with white American Crafts Zing powder. I swiped the card first with my embossing buddy (which I think has a corn starch type powder in it), but still had little straggly pieces of embossing powder that did *not* want to come off the card when I tapped it. Short of using a teeny paintbrush to pick off the individual embossing granules, do any of you have tried and true methods to keep excess powder from sticking to the card? It's driving me nutso. :)

Have a great one!

FTL59 - Grateful for You

Hiya & happy Saturday! :) Before we get to today's card, I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who left comments and emailed me the other day regarding my subscription post. I really appreciate your words of encouragement and am so touched by your kindness. *Big hugs!*

This card was created using the Fall-to Layout Sketch #59. I normally stamp the flowers from In Bloom onto colored card stock, then cut out and layer them with pop dots, but decided to give coloring with my Copics a go. I can definitely use the practice! :) A simple card, but I think it turned out kinda cute.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

CPS132 - Thinking of You

Hiya! :) Whoohoo, it's Friday! We're one day closer to the weekend, and it also means there are 4 more days to finish up my DD projects, photograph them and upload them to SCS before the 15th. ;)

This quick card was created using the most recent Card Positioning Systems sketch... I think it took about 30 minutes. I know some of you are probably wondering why on earth it took *that* long to throw together a bunch of paper strips, but I hem and haw a lot. LOL

Have a great weekend!

2S4Y - Joy

Hello ello! Hope you're having a fabulous day!

I created this card using the 2 Sketches 4 You sketch for this week. I used my Slice machine to cut out the 3 1/2" circle, as well as the 4" scalloped circle (saved me some time since I don't have the circle nestabilities dies and I would've been sitting there punching the edge with my corner rounder... LOL).

I stamped the polka dots with versamark ink, and then sprinkled and heat set the aqua embossing powder. I had a little trouble getting full coverage with the Zing powder (I think the granules are a little chunkier), anyone know any tips or tricks?? I did try refreshing my versamark pad with the refill ink, but it didn't really help. Speaking of tips, I have one... Don't touch areas that have JUST finished heat embossing... LOL, it's a liiiiiiittle warm. *wink* Haha, I'm so clumsy. I also heat embossed the snowflake with brown powder, and then stamped the sentiment in white ink.

Thanks for stopping by, hope to see you again soon! Have a great one! :)

Happy Tuesday! This is the card I made for the Moxie Fab World Clean & Graphic Challenge. I soooo don't love this card, and I almost didn't post it. Then I figured, if nothing else, at least it gives you something to chuckle about. *wink*

Sorry for the super short post, I'm so behind on my projects. Ack!

CC234 & CP30

Good morning! Hope you're all doing well! Today is my daughter's second day of pre-k, and as an added bonus, we get to go pick up our dog from camp after school. I've missed him! Our cats have been lounging around the house, enjoying the time away from the pesky pup that's always annoying them... They're going to be in for quite the surprise. LOL

Do you ever feel lost in the blogdom? Sometimes I think blogging is great because you get to meet so many fabulous people you might not otherwise get to know, and then other times, it makes me feel so small and isolated. LOL, it's probably just me!

This is just a quick and easy card I created using the most recent sketch on the Card Patterns blog.

Supplies:
Stamps - Robots
Ink - Memento Black, Copics
Paper - Bermuda Bay, Summer Sunrise, Whisper White, Pure Poppy, Pure Poppy Bitty Box, My Mind's Eye
Miscellaneous - Felt Thickers, Star Punch, White Gel Pen, Small Oval Punch, Pinking Shear Scissors, Corner Rounder

This next card was created using the colors for Tuesday's Color Challenge: Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo. Don't forget to whip out your sunglasses... You might need them with this card. *wink*

Have a great day!

MFW Elegant Challenge - Merry Christmas

My daughter's first day of pre-k was today, and although I couldn't wait for school to start, I missed her after she'd been gone for 20 minutes. LOL, I make no sense! Go. No, stay! Leave. Come back! That's pretty much me in a nutshell. ;)

This is the card I created for the Moxie Fab Elegant & Classy Challenge... I decided to go with more "traditional" Christmas colors this time around.

Sorry for the super short post, but my laptop is down for the count until my new AC adapter gets here, and I'm using my 10 year old PC that's about as fast as ohhhhhhh standing still. LOL

Have a great one!

Supplies:
Stamps - Season of Joy (SU!), Dotted Flourishes (Inkadinkadoo)
Ink - Stazon Black, Fresh Snow
Paper - Whisper White, New Leaf, Pure Poppy, Pure Poppy Bitty Dot

MFW Stamping Challenge - Merry Christmas

Good morning! T-minus 1 more day and the wee one will be starting pre-k. Isn't that just *insane*? Time keeps on going, whether you want it to or not...

This is the card I made for the Stamping Challenge over at Moxie Fab. It didn't quite turn out as I'd hoped, but I guess that happens when you're stamping at 3 in the morning! LOL

Have a great one!

Moxie Fab World - Fun & Cute Challenge

Last week while I was on vacation, Moxie Fab World issued a bunch of challenges to help us stretch our style for the holidays. I managed to get them all done last night, LOL, well, all except the Vintage & Shabby... I don't know if I'm brave enough to even attempt that one! ;) This is the card I created for the Fun & Cute Challenge.

I started with a base of Hibiscus Burst card stock that I ran through my printer (to add the mistletoe sentiment). Once I had that done, I stamped two of the deer images onto acetate with Stazon Black ink, and set them aside to dry.

At first I tried cutting strips for the hills, and then tearing the edges, but ended up throwing them in the bin because they just.didn't.work. I grabbed my craft knife and eye-balled the hills, then used my finger nail to pull back the top edge just a bit to give them a little definition before adding them to the card base with mini pop dots.

Next, I stamped the branch image from Out on a Limb in black ink, then colored in the leaves with a white gel pen. By this time (being as I'm the world's SLOWEST stamper), the deers were dry, and I trimmed them out, cutting off the antlers of one of them. I flipped the deer with antlers over and added card stock to the back side so that my deer's could face each other. :)

To finish up, I stamped the heart from Ali Edward's Loving Words set and colored it in with Copics. The heart and both deers were added with mini pop dots. LOL, a lot of work for such a simple card! :P

Have a great one!

Ink - Stazon Black
Paper - Hibiscus Burst, Whisper White, Bazzill CS, My Mind's Eye
Miscellaneous - Acetate, White Gel Pen, Computer Generated Sentiment
