Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge - Valentine's Cards

Hi everyone! I know it's really Tuesday, but man oh man, did it ever feel like Monday getting out of bed this morning! :)

Today's Jacksonbelle Embellishment challenge was to create a Valentine's Day card, so I created a bunch of mini-cards for my daughter's pre-k class (they measure 2 3/4" x 4" and fit into those tiny little gift card envies) using some scraps of Love Me Do patterned paper I had left over. There's room on the inside to attach a little square of chocolate and a place for my daughter to write her name. :)

Also, now through Thursday, Jacksonbelle Embellishments is offering *free shipping* on all orders (use code JBFREE during checkout).

Want to play along with us? Simply upload your Valentine card to your SCS gallery using the keyword JBEO89 or post a comment on the Jacksonbelle Embellishments blog linking to your blog. We' would love to see what you come up with! :)

Check out the other DT girls for more Valentine inspiration!

MTSC54 - Best Birthday

Hi everyone! I hope your week is off to a great start. :) Today marks the first day that schools in the area are open after Christmas break... It's been a long two weeks for my daughter, and she was so ready to go back! :)

This card was created using the Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #54 sketch, and some of the new Jacksonbelle Embellishment goodies I received. Happy mail is the best, and I couldn't wait to tear into this My Mind's Eye paper! :)

I combined two different stamp sets to create my image (a SU! bird set, and Basic Grey clear stamps). Since I was working with wooden stamps and acrylic stamps, I stamped the wood block bird image first (since it would be easier to line up the clear stamp sentiment in the right position than the reverse w/out a stamp-a-majig).

The sparkly pom-pom was snagged from my daughter's crafting stash... LOL! I figure she borrows my stuff all the time, it's only fair. *wink* The full pom-pom was too puffy and wouldn't lay flat, so I carefully cut off most of the back side before attaching it with Crystal Effects. (Just FYI - If you cut it right in half, the pom-pom will burst).

Thanks for stopping by today, and I hope you have a great day! :)

Instructions

  • Cut A2 card base from Bermuda Bay CS.
  • Cut two strips of patterned paper (1 3/4" x 4 1/4", and 2" x 4 1/4").
  • Cut a piece of Lemon Tart CS to 1 3/4" x 4 1/4" and stamp with white polka dots.
  • Add a strip of Pure Poppy Grosgrain ribbon to the bottom of the Lemon Tart CS.
  • Use punch to create scalloped edge on a strip of white CS.
  • Arrange strips to your liking, then adhere to card base.
  • Stamp bird image in Memento Black ink, then line up and stamp sentiment underneath. Color with Copics.
  • Stamp party hat image onto separate scrap piece of white CS and color with Copics.
  • Use a Nestabilities die to cut out main image.
  • Cut out hat, adhere to main image, and add sparkly pom-pom.
  • Tie Pure Poppy bow and attach to the card base.

Stamps - Polka Dot Basics 2 (PTI), A Little Birdie Told Me (SU!), Basic Grey Clear Stamps

LSC222 - Little One

Happy Monday! LOL, well, if there *is* such a thing! :)

I created this card for Friday's Limited Supply Challenge using the most recent Weekend Sketch Challenge... This week's challenge was to only use 1/2 sheet of CS for the card base, and nothing else! No other "plain" paper. We also weren't allowed to use Copics, crayons, markers, etc., and had to limit embellies. LOL, I know it looks like I used Whisper White CS, but the white paper is from the Basic Grey Urban Prairie paper pad and has the lightest brown distress marks on the surface (I had a super hard time picking that up with my camera). LOL, it might still be considered cheating, but hey, I tried! :)

Have a great one!

Stamps - Mega Mixed Messages

Ink - Stazon Brown
Paper - Lemon Tart, Basic Grey Urban Prairie, Basic Grey Offbeat
Miscellaneous - Prima Hydrangea, 1" Circle Punch, Basic Grey Offbeat Chipboard, Imaginesce Cha Ching Brads, Nestabilities Large Scalloped Rectangles, Lemon Tart Stitched Ribbon

WSC79 - Hello

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day for... Rain? LOL, it's been raining here for the past couple of days, and it looks like it's going to continue later into the week... I'm not a huge fan of rain because it wipes me out, but looking on the bright side it's definitely good for all the plants in our garden... especially the weeds! Thistle weeds (persistent little boogers they are!) will be springing up like crazy! I made the mistake of allowing ONE thistle weed plant to seed and I've been paying for it for the past three years... I just can't seem to get rid of them... They just keep growing, and growing, and... :(

Anyhooooo... I made this card for Friday's Weekend Sketch Challenge. Jenn Balcer hosted the challenge last week, and her sketch rocked! She always comes up with the cutest things... I tend to get stuck in a rut and always want to make everything straight, straight, straight, so it's a nice switch to use a slanted image. :)

Have a great one!

Mojo78, WSC73 & WT210

I created this card for this week's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. I really liked this sketch... I had a little trouble with the rounding on the bottom of the image panel, so I cheated and put my sentiment there. LOL

Card base - Whisper White (4 1/4 x 5 1/2"), Aqua SEI Paper (1 x 4"), Green SEI Paper (3/4 x 4"), Floral SEI Paper (3 1/2 x 4")

Image layer - Brown SEI Paper (1 1/2 x 4"), Whisper White (1 1/4 x 3 3/4")

Stamps - Feel the Joy (Unity), Mega Mixed Messages (PTI)

Ink - Stazon Brown, Berry Sorbet
Paper - Whisper White, SEI Dill Pickle, Berry Sorbet
Miscellaneous - Small Oval Punch, Large Oval Punch, Berry Sorbet Satin Ribbon, Corner Rounder

----------------------------------------------

This card came together super fast... I created it for Friday's Weekend Sketch Challenge (
WSC73), and also tied it in with Thursday's Ways To Use It Challenge (WT210) in which we were to incorporate stickers onto our cards.

I started with a standard A2 card base, then cut out two strips of Basic Grey Urban Prairie paper. I scalloped the edge of the yellow paper, then adhered by pink layer before attaching it to the card base. Next, I used my Square Scallop Punch to punch out three shapes, then adhered them to the card base with pop dots. Then I grabbed my Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch and punched three shapes out of some of the scrap pieces of my Sticky Cuts Alpha sheet. Before dipping my butterflies in glitter, I removed the backing paper from the butterflies and adhered them to some scrap Whisper White paper. To finish the card, the butterflies were attached with pop dots, then the wings were bent up a little, and I added my sentiment. Super easy! I I love glitter, but man, that stuff is sooooo messy! Even when you think you're being totally careful and not getting it everywhere, you still find it on random things! :)

Card base - Whisper White (4 1/4 x 5 1/2"), Pink BG paper (2 1/2 x 5 1/2"), Yellow BG paper (3 x 5 1/2")

Stamps - *gasp* None!

Paper - Whisper White, Basic Grey Urban Prairie
Miscellaneous - Aqua Vinyl Thickers, Scallop Edge Punch, Square Scallop Punch, Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, Glitter, Sticky Cuts

CPS102 - So Tweet

I made this card for the CPS102 Sketch Challenge. You can find a copy of the sketch by clicking here. I started with a standard card base of Pink Pirouette, and layered Chocolate Chip (4" x 5 1/4") and Basic Grey Bittersweet paisley paper (3 7/8" x 5 1/8") on top. Next, I cut out a small piece of Basic Grey Bittersweet stripe paper (3" x 3 1/2") and layered it with Chocolate Chip (2 3/4" x 3 1/4") and Whisper White (2 5/8" x 3 1/8") CS that had been stamped with Pink Pirouette flowers. Then I added my scallop border on the bottom of the panel and attached it to the card base.

Next, I stamped the bird image in Purely Pomegranate ink, and the beak and feet in Chocolate Chip ink onto Whisper White CS and cut out the pieces. I added a clear Tiny Twinkle for the bird's eye and popped it up with dimensionals. I didn't like the position of the tail, so I cut it off and added it behind the bird.

To finish off the card, I made a little flower out of the white ribbon, and added my hearts and sentiment to the flower center. I wanted the little bird to look like he picked the flower, so I added a tiny strip of Pink Pirouette CS.

Details:
Stamps - Good Friend, Karen Foster Snap Stamps
Ink - Purely Pomegranate, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip
Paper - Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Basic Grey Bittersweet
Miscellaneous - Scallop Edge Punch, Taylor's Tiny Twinkles, White Polka Dot Ribbon, Heart Nestabilities

----------------------------------------------

This card was created using the sketch on the PaperTreyInk blog. I started with a card base of Chocolate chip, then cut out a scalloped edge on a piece of Whisper White CS. Next, I cut my large layers: Pink Pirouette (4" x 4 1/2"), Basic Grey green floral paper (3 3/4" x 4 1/4"), and then added my scalloped edge and brads before adhering it to the card base.

I then cut out the Basic Grey stripe paper (1 1/4" x 4"), and layered it onto top of Pink Pirouette (1 1/2" x 4") and Chocolate Chip (1 3/4" x 4"), then attached it to the card base. To finish off the card, I cut out the middle panel: Chocolate Chip (2 1/2" x 3 1/2"), Pink Pirouette (2 1/4" x 3 1/4"), and Whisper White (2" x 3"). I randomly stamped the small floral image from Fifth Avenue Florals in Riding Hood Red ink onto the Whisper White CS. Once the image dried, I added small Kiwi Kiss dots around the outside of the flowers, and colored some of the flower petals with Pink Pirouette ink.

I attached my main image to the card base, and then stamped my sentiment in Kiwi Kiss onto Whisper White. To finish it off, I punched it out with my Key Tag Punch and layered it with Pink Pirouette.

Details:
Stamps - Fifth Avenue Floral
Ink - Riding Hood Red, Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette
Paper - Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette, Basic Grey Sugared
Miscellaneous - Scallop Edge Punch, Key Tag Punch, Green Ice Rhinestone Brads

TECC54 - Love is in the air

My daughter is quite the budding artist... Just look at the beautiful drawing she left for me on my laptop! *rolls eyes* LOL, she's so naughty! What amazes me is just how FAST she can do these types of things. It literally took her less than 1 minute to grab a marker, sit down at my computer, color in a handful of the dots and say "look mommy, I colored your computer." Oh, how sweet of you...

----------------------------------------------

This card was created for the TECC54 Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge. You can find a copy of the sketch here. Once again I found myself reaching for the scissors. :) I thought to myself, wouldn't it be fun to make the little cupid cupcake look like he's flying? LOL

TLC206 - If Friends Were Flowers

After coming down with something last Wednesday (I blame shoveling an icy driveway in the rain...lol), it was good to get to stamp again! I was SO close to being able to finish all 9 of the Taylored Expression Challenges, and then I felt like death warmed over and stamping was the last thing on my mind! Better luck next time, eh? :) On the plus side, I was one of the random winners of the $10 Taylored Expressions gift certificates. How fun is that?!

I made this card for the Technique Lover's Challenge (TLC206) on SCS. You can find details of the challenge here. It was a little trickier than I thought it would be, but the end result (recessed frame) is very fun. The instructions call for a 2 1/4" square, but I enlarged mine to 3"... I think the hardest part was cutting out the 3" square on my layers so they would line up properly when assembled. I was going to add some ribbon, but totally spaced out and forgot until my layers were adhered together, by then I was like forget it, it's done! LOL

Stamps - Playful Petals, Taylored Expressions Year of Sweet Sentiments
Paper - Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Sweet Always DSP
Ink - Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip
Miscellaneous - Key Tag Punch, Taylor's Tiny Twinkles

This was created for the Taylored Expressions sketch challenge on Stephanie's blog. This card was the last thing I made on Wednesday before I fell ill... LOL Sorry about the dark cast, I've been fiddling with it in Photoshop, but can't seem to get it any lighter without making it look distorted.

TECC52DB, TECC52VC, TECC52JP - More Challenge Cards

Our lovely puppy snuck a piece of my daughter's pizza yesterday, and boy did I pay the price this morning! There's nothing like waking up, coming out of your room and thinking you smell something gnarly... I'm walking around telling myself, I know I smell something, but I don't see it! Little did I know the noxious aroma was coming from downstairs via Heston's crate. So disgusting. So very disgusting. Now that I've cleaned the puppy, cleaned the crate, thrown his mat into the washer, disinfected EVERYTHING, I feel better. LOL

I made these three cards yesterday, as part of the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge Anniversary of sketches... 6 down, 3 to go baby! :) When I first started on Monday, I thought there was NO WAY I'd be able to complete all 9 because I swear I'm the world's slowest stamper... But there's hope, I'm on the back stretch! Whoohoo!

This was created for the sketch challenge here. I loved the sample that was on Donna's blog, and definitely think I'll be using this layout again... So many ways you can switch it up and make it different.

TLC204 - Love You

This card was created for the Technique Lover's Challenge (TLC204) on SCS using the Mojo Monday week 70 sketch. You can find the details of the challenge here, and the sketch here.

I started with a standard card base in Chocolate Chip, and then cut a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of patterned paper for my background. I adhered it to the card base, and then cut out the following: two pieces of Pink Pirouette CS (both 1 3/4" x 4"), a piece of Whisper White CS (1 1/2" x 3 3/4"), and a piece of striped pattern paper (1 1/2" x 4").

Next, I adhered my Pink Pirouette and striped patterned paper together, then added chipboard sticker hearts to the striped paper (and cut off the excess) before attaching the layers to the card base. I then completely covered my Whisper White CS with tacky strip and then cut off the excess. Next, I cut out a bunch of different elements from a piece of paisley patterned paper and then stuck them to the CS that was covered with tacky strip. Once I was happy with the layout, I sprinkled white embossing powder over the remaining exposed tacky strip and heat embossed.

I then layered my white and green flowers, attached them to the card, then adhered my embossed paper to the remaining Pink Pirouette piece of CS. I tied two knots in two pieces of Kiwi Kiss ribbon, and attached them to the bottom of my embossed panel before attaching the strip to the card base. I used my curly label punch to punch out a piece of Basic Grey solid pink paper, and stamped my sentiment label in Kiwi Kiss, and my sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink, and added them together with pop dots. Pop dots were also added to the back of the punch before adhering to the card. To finish off the card, I added a pink chipboard sticker photo corner on pop dots, and three green buttons in the lower right hand corner.

Details:
Stamps - Sweet Thing
Ink - Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip
Paper - Basic Grey Bittersweet, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette
Miscellaneous - Basic Grey Eva Buttons, Kiwi Kiss Satin Ribbon, White Embossing Powder, Curly Label Punch, Lime Prima Flower, White Prima Flower, Basic Grey Bittersweet Chipboard Stickers

TLC203 - Sweetest Day

This box was created for the Technique Lovers Origami Box Challenge (TLC203) on SCS. You can find all of the details about the challenge (and the great folding instructions) here. When I first looked at the drawings of the folds, I thought, oh boy, this is gonna be fun... But it wasn't too bad! I think I had the box and the cover done in about 15 minutes, start to finish. Not too shabby!

I think it makes a cute little Valentine's Day gift box for my daughter's pre-school teacher... Now I just have to figure out what to put inside... Brownies? Candy? Note cards? Decisions, decisions... :)

Details:
Stamps - Crazy for Cupcakes (sentiment)

TLC140, SC147 - Thank You

Most of my stamping/crafting is done in the wee hours of the morning when my husband and daughter are sleeping... This week I actually ended up going to bed at a reasonable time! I know, I know... Me? Go to bed before the clock strikes midnight? No way! Yes way... LOL

I started this card on Monday for the cracked glass TLC140 Technique Lovers Challenge. I was going to attempt to use this week's Color Challenge colors, but they proved to be too much for me! LOL... I'm still surprised that I haven't used Soft Sky or Groovy Guava on my last few cards... :P

I started by stamping the Oh So Lovely flowers three times onto WCP, then colored them in using Real Red and Tempting Turquoise inks, and a So Saffron Stampin' Write Marker.

While I was waiting for the image to dry, I cut out my Chocolate Chip (4 1/4 x 5 1/2") card base, as well as the large Basic Grey piece of patterned paper (3 x 5"). I attached a piece of Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon to the Basic Grey layer, then adhered it to the card base.

Next, I stamped my main image with Versamark ink then sprinkled it with UTEE powder before heat setting it. Lather, rinse, repeat... LOL, j/k. I repeated the embossed layers two more times, then placed the image into the freezer for a couple of minutes before bending it to create the cracks. I then attached it to a 2 3/8 x 3 5/8" piece of red Basic Grey Blush paper, and adhered it to the card base with mini pop dots.

To finish up, I used a 1 3/8" Circle Punch on a piece of Chocolate Chip CS, and layered that with a 1 1/4" circle punch of red Basic Grey paper. I stamped my Thank You sentiment onto a piece of patterned paper in Chocolate Chip ink before punching it out with the Window Punch, and then attached it to the card after adding two ivory Primas and a rhinestone brad.

Details:
Stamps - Oh So Lovely, All Holidays
Paper - Chocolate Chip, WCP, Basic Grey Blush paper line
Ink - Stazon Black, Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip, Versamark
Miscellaneous - Prima Flowers, Fire Rhinestone Brad, UTEE, Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon

Weekend Sketch Challenge 21

I've never made one of these file folder cards before, so I was really excited to see Beate had posted one as her Weekend Sketch Challenge 21. Two down... One more to go 'til I'm caught back up! :)

I'm going to skip posting the dimensions, as you can find them on Beate's blog (just click the link above to be taken to the tutorial)... It didn't take very long to put this card together, I think the most tedious part of the process was cutting out the flower stem... LOL, that's what I get for thinking it would be cute! :P

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Details:
Stamps - Fancy Pants Design In My Garden, So Many Sayings
Ink - Really Rust, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive
Paper - Basic Grey Mellow, Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Miscellaneous - Fire Rhinestone Brad, Tab Punch, Window Punch, Ticket Corner Punch

CC133 - Thanks a Latte

Tuesday's SCS CC133 Color Challenge was to use More Mustard, Old Olive and Bashful Blue... Definitely not my usual soft colors, but I guess it's okay to venture outside the box every once in a while, right? Right?? LOL... I don't know why I always want to reach for Soft Sky or Groovy Guava, but I do know that I'm sure going to miss them when next year's In Colors come out.

I started with a standard sized card base (4 1/4 x 5 1/2") in More Mustard, then cut out my Chocolate Chip (4 x 5 1/4") and Basic Grey Mellow patterned paper (3 7/8 x 5 1/8") before using the ticket corner punch.

Next, I paper pieced the dress from my image using another piece of Basic Grey Mellow patterned paper, then colored in the image using Creamy Caramel, Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip and Old Olive inks. I also used my Quickie Glue Pen on the coffee steam, and used White Gold Glitter to give it a little sparkle. This image was one of ~many~ Lynn was sweet enough to send me through SCS WishRAK.

Once my image was dry, I cut it out and adhered it to a piece of More Mustard CS, then attached that to an Old Olive giga scallop before layering it with another piece of Basic Grey's Mellow paper line and Bashful Blue CS.

To finish it up, I added Very Vanilla Taffeta & Sheer Brown Polka Dot ribbons to the card front, as well as stamping "thanks a latte" with my Karen Foster Snap Stamps. Unfortunately, it doesn't show up well in the photo. LOL, it's there, I promise! :)

Details:
Stamps - MFT Hot Stuff (WishRAK), Karen Foster Snap Stamps 1/8 Casual
Ink - Creamy Caramel, Bashful Blue, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Paper - Basic Grey's Mellow Line, More Mustard, Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip
Miscellaneous - Brown Sheer Polka Dot Ribbon, Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon

CC130 Color Challenge

Here's the card I made yesterday for SCS's CC130 Color Challenge.

I started with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" card base of Groovy Guava, then inked up my So Swirly wheel with the coordinating ink and ran it across the base. Once that was done, I used my corner rounder to scallop the edge of the bottom of the card, and punched the holes using my crop-a-dile.

I then cut out the Always Artichoke (3 3/4 x 5") and Basic Grey Infuse (3 1/2 x 4 3/4") layers, and used my ticket punch on the corners.

Next, I stamped three flowers, then coated them with Making Memories Clear Glaze. While I was waiting for the flowers to dry, I cut out a strip of Groovy Guava and Always Artichoke paper. I used my corner rounder again to scallop the edge of the Groovy Guava paper, and then attached the layers before stamping my sentiment and adhering it to the card with Chocolate Taffeta Ribbon.

Once the flowers were dry, I cut them out and used pop dots to give them a little dimension. Quick and easy! :)

Details:
Stamps - Flowers & Flourish, So Many Sayings, So Swirly Wheel
Ink - Groovy Guava, Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip
Paper - Groovy Guava, Always Artichoke, Whisper White, Basic Gray Infuse

Sketch Challenge - SC136

Here is the card I came up with for the SC136 sketch challenge... Pretty fun! The original post can be found here.

I started with a standard sized Chocolate Chip CS base, then cut out my layers using Basic Grey's Infuse line. I used my Marvy mega circle punch to cut out my half circle, and used my aqua painter to add some color to my flowers. At first I painted them with the Old Olive pad, then decided at the last minute I wanted them to be a little more brown so I added Chocolate Chip. They're kind of a weird greeny/brown color! LOL Oh well, you win some, you lose some, right? :)

Details:
Stamps - Friend to Friend
Ink - Chocolate Chip, Old Olive
Paper - Chocolate Chip CS, Basic Grey Infuse
Miscellaneous - Chocolate Taffetta Ribbon, Pretties Flowers & Pearl, Brads
