TECC52DB, TECC52VC, TECC52JP - More Challenge Cards

Our lovely puppy snuck a piece of my daughter's pizza yesterday, and boy did I pay the price this morning! There's nothing like waking up, coming out of your room and thinking you smell something gnarly... I'm walking around telling myself, I know I smell something, but I don't see it! Little did I know the noxious aroma was coming from downstairs via Heston's crate. So disgusting. So very disgusting. Now that I've cleaned the puppy, cleaned the crate, thrown his mat into the washer, disinfected EVERYTHING, I feel better. LOL

I made these three cards yesterday, as part of the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge Anniversary of sketches... 6 down, 3 to go baby! :) When I first started on Monday, I thought there was NO WAY I'd be able to complete all 9 because I swear I'm the world's slowest stamper... But there's hope, I'm on the back stretch! Whoohoo!

This was created for the sketch challenge here. I loved the sample that was on Donna's blog, and definitely think I'll be using this layout again... So many ways you can switch it up and make it different.

If you complete all 9 sketches (and upload them) by Thursday, January 29th, you will be entered into a prize drawing. I managed to complete three cards today (which is amazing considering my daughter didn't have school today), so only 6 to go! :)

SC212 - Congratulations

This card was created for the current Sketch Challenge on SCS (SC212). You can find the original sketch here.

I started with a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card base of Bazzill Pistachio paper. Next, I lined the inside with a 4" x 4 1/4" piece of Very Vanilla paper, and a 1" x 4" strip of paisley patterned paper. I stamped my bear image onto WCP in Stazon Timber Brown ink and colored it in with Kiwi Kiss ink. While the bear was drying, I started cutting out my various layers: khaki solid (4" x 5 1/4"), paisley print (3 3/4" x 5"), lime solid (3 1/4" x 4 1/4"), polka dot print (3" x 4"), khaki solid (1 1/2" x 4"), strip print (1 1/4" x 3 3/4").

I then tied three knots in the aqua satin ribbon, and cut the end of my stripe paper and my small khaki solid. I adhered the two pieces of paper together, and then added the ribbon before assembling the card front.

Next, I cut out the bear, attached a small knot as a neck-tie, used my exacto knife around his arm and tucked my sentiment flag underneath. To finish off the card, I added three light brown rhinestones (which look a little dark in the photo).

Details:
Stamps - Bundle of Joy,
Ink - Kiwi Kiss, Stazon Timber Brown
Paper - Bazzill Pistachio, Crate Paper Birdie, Watercolor Paper
Miscellaneous - 1" Aqua Satin Ribbon, 1/4" White Organza w/Aqua Trim, Light Brown Rhinestones

TLC204 - Love You

This card was created for the Technique Lover's Challenge (TLC204) on SCS using the Mojo Monday week 70 sketch. You can find the details of the challenge here, and the sketch here.

I started with a standard card base in Chocolate Chip, and then cut a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of patterned paper for my background. I adhered it to the card base, and then cut out the following: two pieces of Pink Pirouette CS (both 1 3/4" x 4"), a piece of Whisper White CS (1 1/2" x 3 3/4"), and a piece of striped pattern paper (1 1/2" x 4").

Next, I adhered my Pink Pirouette and striped patterned paper together, then added chipboard sticker hearts to the striped paper (and cut off the excess) before attaching the layers to the card base. I then completely covered my Whisper White CS with tacky strip and then cut off the excess. Next, I cut out a bunch of different elements from a piece of paisley patterned paper and then stuck them to the CS that was covered with tacky strip. Once I was happy with the layout, I sprinkled white embossing powder over the remaining exposed tacky strip and heat embossed.

I then layered my white and green flowers, attached them to the card, then adhered my embossed paper to the remaining Pink Pirouette piece of CS. I tied two knots in two pieces of Kiwi Kiss ribbon, and attached them to the bottom of my embossed panel before attaching the strip to the card base. I used my curly label punch to punch out a piece of Basic Grey solid pink paper, and stamped my sentiment label in Kiwi Kiss, and my sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink, and added them together with pop dots. Pop dots were also added to the back of the punch before adhering to the card. To finish off the card, I added a pink chipboard sticker photo corner on pop dots, and three green buttons in the lower right hand corner.

Details:
Stamps - Sweet Thing
Ink - Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip
Paper - Basic Grey Bittersweet, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Pink Pirouette
Miscellaneous - Basic Grey Eva Buttons, Kiwi Kiss Satin Ribbon, White Embossing Powder, Curly Label Punch, Lime Prima Flower, White Prima Flower, Basic Grey Bittersweet Chipboard Stickers

3D086 - Thank you

This desktop calendar was created for the 3D086 Demo Challenge on SCS. To find out more about the challenge, please go here.

I started with two 4" x 9" pieces of patterned paper (one for the outside, and one for the inside), and used my corner rounder to round out the edges. I then placed a piece of tacky strip horizontally across the back side of the piece of patterned paper I wanted as the outside of the cover. I then placed my large piece of ribbon down on top of the tacky strip, and adhered my two coasters to the outer edges. Next, I adhered the inside cover to the coasters, and then decorated the inside and outside of my little calendar book.

Details:
Stamps - Bella Blossoms
Ink - Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow
Paper - Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Windsor Knot DSP
Miscellaneous - Chocolate Chip Ribbon, Coasters, Circle Brads, Pop Dots

SC211 - Make a wish

This card was created for the SCS Sketch Challenge (SC211)... I'm a day late, but at least it's done, right? :) You can find information about the challenge and a copy of the sketch here.

I started with a 5" square card base of Baja Breeze. I then cut out 2 large, 2 medium, and 2 small stars from the My Mind's Eye Twinkle Twinkle paper, and popped up each layer with dimensionals. Next, I cut out two 2 1/4" x 3 1/2" panels from another piece of patterned paper, and layered them with two 2" x 3 1/4" green polka dot panels.

I then cut a 2 3/4" x 3 1/4" piece of Whisper White paper, stamped my sentiment on two opposing corners, and then layered it on a 3" x 3 1/2" piece of patterned paper. To finish off the card, I stamped my candle and flame images on patterned paper, cut them out and attached them with dimensionals.

Stamps - Big Birthday Candle
Ink - Basic Black, Riding Hood Red

TLC203 - Sweetest Day

This box was created for the Technique Lovers Origami Box Challenge (TLC203) on SCS. You can find all of the details about the challenge (and the great folding instructions) here. When I first looked at the drawings of the folds, I thought, oh boy, this is gonna be fun... But it wasn't too bad! I think I had the box and the cover done in about 15 minutes, start to finish. Not too shabby!

I think it makes a cute little Valentine's Day gift box for my daughter's pre-school teacher... Now I just have to figure out what to put inside... Brownies? Candy? Note cards? Decisions, decisions... :)

Details:
Stamps - Crazy for Cupcakes (sentiment)
Ink - Basic Brown
Paper - Basic Grey's Bittersweet, Whisper White
Miscellaneous - Small Corner Punch, Pink Pirouette Ribbon, Basic Grey Bittersweet Chipboard Elements, Thin Chipboard

6x6 Scrapbook Page

Let me start off by apologizing for the poor picture quality... It's late, and the lighting downstairs isn't the best. I attempted to fix the photo with PSE, but I'm not sure it turned out any better than the original... LOL

This 6x6 scrapbook page was created as part of the HHN09 challenge on SCS. You can find details of the challenge here.

I started with a 12x12 piece of Basic Grey's Urban Prairie Bountiful paper, and cut it down to 6x6. I typed up my verse into MS Word, printed it out, and cut it down to fit my BG Urban Prairie Hayloft layer before adhering them to the page with pop dots.

I then stamped one of the flowers from Petal Pizzazz onto white CS using Pink Pirhouette ink, and then off-stamped the remaining flower with Riding Hood Red. I attached a piece of Baja Breeze ribbon, secured the brads through the flowers, and then adhered them with pop dots. Super easy!

Details -
Ink - Pink Pirhouette, Riding Hood Red
Stamps - Petal Pizzazz
Paper - Basic Grey Urban Prairie, Whisper White
Miscellaneous - Baja Breeze Ribbon, Basic Grey Urban Prairie Glossy Brads, Pop Dots, Ticket Punch

2008 Year in Review...

Wow, seems like forever since the last time I posted, and I want to say thank you to everyone who took the time to email me to make sure I was still among the living. :)

2008 turned out to be a very busy year for us. Days turned to weeks, and weeks turned to months, and before you knew it, it'd been almost 10 months since my last post. I'd love to say that I will be back to posting daily, but I can't promise that... I will try harder though to keep my blog updated!
My year in review...

My "baby" turned 3 in May... I can't believe how fast the time has gone! She is a feisty little thing! LOL, you know it's bad when a friend gives you a book called "the strong willed child" and you didn't ask to borrow it in the first place! :P Yes, she is very stubborn, very busy, very unfocused, very impulsive, and wants things to be her idea before she'll cooperate, but it's not simply a case of bad parenting... LOL, well, I hope not anyway! Linds has some things going on neurologically, but we aren't really sure quite yet the extent of it. We saw a pediatric neurologist back in May because there was talk of her possibly being on the Autism Spectrum. He felt that her issues are more related to her speech delay than anything else, so lets wait and see and reevalute at a later date. Okay, fine. She goes to pre-school and receives services for her speech delay, and she's making great progress... LOL, but something new has cropped up. I have the neurologist telling me it's a speech issue, and the school telling me that they think she might be sensory defensive. Really? The same kid who loves lotion, chapstick, coloring on herself, and playing with paint?? If you say so... I think it's just one of those things where we'd love to have an answer, but most likely it'll be a while before it's obvious what's going on... Me personally, I think she could be a poster child for ADHD, but what do I know? I'm just the mom...

My oldest kitty, Onyx, died in September. He wasn't super old (14), but had been sick for a while... I wasn't surprised that it happened, but I sure do miss him! He was definitely the best. cat. ever. :( Shhhh, don't tell our other cats I said that...

This is our newest baby, Heston... He's a smoke-colored blue merle Australian Shepherd. My husband finally decided that was ready for a puppy (after much persuading), and after a lot of hemming and hawing between getting a lab or an aussie, we finally made a choice! :) My husband's never had an inside dog, so it's been a bit of an adjustment process for him... LOL I don't really think it's all that different around here, but I handle change better... Haha.

My grandparents (my mom's parents) came down from Michigan and were here in the area for two weeks surrounding Christmas. It was wonderful to get to see them again... It's been too long! Hopefully we'll get to see them again before too much time has passed... Love them!

My other grandma, Erma (my dad's mom), passed away earlier in 2008... I wish I had a picture on the computer of her... She was such a beautiful, sweet lady! She lived in California, so I didn't get to see her as much growing up as I did my grandparents in Michigan because of the distance, but I have a lot of fond memories of her and the time we spent out there over the years. When I think about her, the image that always pops into my head first is her sitting at the kitchen table, smoking a cigarette, drinking her afternoon Budweiser and listening to the radio... LOL She was a hoot!

For those of you who are still out there... a big THANKS!
