SCS Challenge - III

Yet another card I made for an SCS Challenge. :) This was a sketch challenge provided by Beate! I couldn't figure out what papers I wanted to use, but in the end I think it came together okay. :P

I saw a card on Cami's site where she had turned the punch from the circle scallop punch into a flower... How clever is she?! Love that idea!

Details:
Stamps - Sweet Thing
Paper - Porcelain Prints, Blue Bayou, Very Vanilla, River Rock
Ink - Wild Wasabi
Miscellaneous - Wild Wasabi Double Stitched Ribbon, Clear Rhinestone Brad

SCS Challenge - II

Here's another card I made for one of the SCS Challenges. This time we were supposed to use only pastel colors... no black... no dark brown... no dark blue.

This is a very simple layout, I wanted to try to keep the main focus of the card on the large sparkly dahlia blooms. I randomly stamped the dahlia image in Soft Sky ink on a 4" square of Whisper White CS. I then outlined the blooms with my Sakura glitter pen, and smeared it across the image to bring a little sparkle to the entire flower. Once the glitter was dry, I stamped my two sentiments, one in Sahara Sand, and the other in Groovy Guava. Then I layered the image on a 4 1/8" square of Sahara Sand CS, and finished it off with a piece of Groovy Guava ribbon. Once the ribbon was adhered to the first two layers, I attached it to the 4 1/2" Sahara Sand CS base. Easy peasy! :)

Details:
Stamps - Fabulous Flowers, Warm Words, Holidays & Wishes
Ink - Groovy Guava, Soft Sky, Sahara Sand
Paper - Sahara Sand, Soft Sky, Whisper White
Miscellaneous - Sakura Glitter Gel Pen, Groovy Guava Double Stitched Ribbon

SCS Challenge - I

This card was created for one of the SCS Challenges where we were supposed to use Flock on a card... I thought it would be fun to use the Flock with a stamp that has a large design so I decided to go with the Baroque background stamp. It was pretty late last night, so I ended up cutting my card base with the wrong dimensions, and as a result my Baroque background ended up being sideways. LOL

Anyhoo... The Basic Black card base is 4 3/4" x 5 1/4", the Whisper White layer is 4 1/2" x 5", and the Soft Sky layer is 4 1/4" x 4 3/4". I used my Tsukineko Glue Pad with my Baroque background stamp, and gooped it up enough to give the stamped image some tackiness. For me personally, I found the best way to get good coverage with Flock is to allow the glue to set for 2-3 seconds after you pull the stamp off of the paper and add the Flock. The glue just seems a little more tacky when you let it sit for an extra moment or two.

I really like the look of Flock, but I'm not so sure how often I'll be using it going forward... This stuff is MESSY! There were about a million and one little black fibers all over the place by the time I was finished. :)

Before I assembled the layers, I used my Aqua Painter and my Soft Sky ink pad to color the two Pretties flowers I wanted to put on the card. While the flowers were drying, I went ahead and taped down my layers. Then I stamped my sentiment on Whisper White, and used my 3/4" punch. I then layered that off center on top of a 1" circle punch of Basic Black, and attached it to the flowers. Pop dots were used to attached the flowers to the card.

Details:
Stamps - Sweet Thing, Baroque
Ink - Basic Black
Paper - Soft Sky, Basic Black, Whisper White
Miscellaneous - Pretties Flowers, Black Flock

Weekend Sketch Challenge #12

It's that time of the week again! :) Beate has a new sketch posted on her site Fresh & Fun. You can check out her original post here. I had a little time to play today while my daughter was taking her nap... Whoohoo! :)

I started with a 5" square card base of Really Rust CS. I then cut out several layers of Basic Grey's Infuse paper line, and layered those with coordinating solids. I then adhered the layers together, then positioned them on the base. I used several of the BG die cuts to make my main image, and used pop dots in between the layers to give it some dimension.

Details:

Stamps - Sweet Somethings
Paper - Really Rust, Basic Grey Infuse
Ink - Chestnut Roan Chalk Ink, Close to Cocoa
Miscellaneous - Pink Rhinestone Brad, Vintage Brads, Pop Dots

I've Been Tagged... Again!

Kimberly over at Crafty Me tagged me (again - lol)... I don't know if I'll be able to come up with another 7 random facts about me, but I'll give it my best shot! :)
  1. I've had plastic surgery! LOL, okay, okay, maybe not. :P I was referred to a plastic surgeon to help minimize scarring from having a mole on my forehead removed... That counts, right??
  2. I'm currently working full-time, but will be making the transition to a SAHM come January 1st. I'm SO looking forward to it! :) What's not to like? Sitting around, eating bon-bons and watching tv? Two words - yeah right! Being a SAHM is work, but it's also incredibly rewarding.
  3. I don't really consider myself to be a creative person... I love crafts, just about any kind, but I don't have an eye for design and balance. LOL
  4. We've lived in our house for almost 2 years, and I still haven't finished most of the projects I started in 2005... Oops.
  5. I am SUPER clumsy! It used to be much worse when I was younger, but I still have my moments. Just a few months ago I took a spill out on the sidewalk in front of our house in the wee hours of the morning. LOL, wouldn't you know it, my neighbor just happened to be out walking his dog and he witnessed the whole muddy scene!
  6. My husband and I would like to add to our family, and secretly I hope we have another girl... Call me cheap, but it would be awesome to re-use all of her stuff!
  7. As soon as I found out I was expecting, I so wanted to have a c-section... I thought my hopes were going to be dashed (and I was a little panicked), but I ended up being carted off for an emergency c-section at 4 in the morning back in 2005. My daughter had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck twice, and two true knots in her cord (very active baby!)...

Well, there it is... Another 7 random things about me... All right, who's next?? :) I'm going to take the easy route... If you've read this far, consider yourself TAGGED!! :P

WSC #11- Take Two

This was the second card that I created using the sketch that Beate posted for her WSC #11. I finally quit fiddling with it around 1am, but couldn't decide if I should post it... It seems that's been happening a ~lot~ lately. LOL

I LOVE the Basic Grey Infuse papers but that flower gave me pause. I still think the flower is a little weird, but I've modified it SO many times, I figure it's time to just learn to like it and move on. LOL

I started with the 5 1/2" Chocolate Chip CS base, but then goofed when I cut out the patterned paper on the bottom. I thought the margin on all sides was a little too big, so I cut my base down to 5"... LOL, wouldn't you know, that was a touch too small. I blame the LATE hour on making silly mistakes. Who me? Take responsibility for not paying attention? Psha... :P

I don't remember the exact dimensions of the patterned papers that I cut out, but I just cut them where I thought they would layer well. I inked the edges of all the paper with Chestnut Roan chalk ink and adhered them to the card base. Then I used my large oval punch on the pink paper, stamped my sentiment in Old Olive and then used my small oval punch. I adhered the two together with mini-pop dots, and then used regular sized pop dots before attaching it to the card. I also used the new Chocolate Taffeta ribbon, which is sooo pretty.

Now... That flower! :) I thought it would be nice to use the die cuts that coordinate with the paper, so I punched out the stem and the large flower. Since I cut down the CS base, the stem wouldn't fit as is. LOL Sooooooo, I cut off the piece that I thought would work the best, trimmed off a few stray leaves, and inked the edges. I used mini-pop dots on the inked pink petals, and attached a new flower center. I still didn't really like flower, so I started cutting and this is what I ended up with. LOL :)

Details:
Stamps - Vases in Vogue
Ink - Old Olive, Chestnut Roan chalk ink
Paper - Basic Grey's Infuse paper & die cuts, Chocolate Chip CS
Miscellaneous - Chocolate Taffeta Ribbon

Weekend Sketch Challenge #11

It's that time again! :) Here's the card I created for Beate's new Weekend Sketch Challenge #11. Beate's original post can be found here. These sketch challenges are always so fun, you should definitely get out there and participate in one! :)

I started with a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Basic Black card base, and layered it with a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" piece of Soft Sky CS. I cut out 4 pieces of Wintergreen DS paper (2" x 3", 2" x 2 3/8", 1/2" x 5", 3" x 5") and layered them on top of the Soft Sky CS. I then attached a piece of River Rock double-stitched ribbon. I used my aqua painter and Soft Sky & River Rock reinkers to dye my Pretties flowers. I used my scallop punch to cut out another piece of the Wintergreen DS paper, layered a 1 3/8" white circle punch out on top, and layered it onto my Soft Sky Pretties flower. I attached the River Rock Pretties flower, then finished it off with a clear rhinestone brad. The sentiment was stamped with Basic Black ink on a little strip of Soft Sky paper.

Details:
Stamps - Absolutely Fabulous
Ink - Soft Sky, River Rock, Basic Black
Paper - Basic Black, Soft Sky, Wintergreen DS
Miscellaneous - River Rock Double-Stitched Ribbon, Clear Rhinestone Brad, Scallop Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch

Here are my picks... All of them have probably already been nominated, but here goes:

Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #10

Well, it's that time of the week again... Beate has posted another great Sketch Challenge over at her site fresh & fun. :) Check it out!

I started with a Chocolate Chip card base of 4 1/2" x 5 1/4". I then cut out my different layers:

* Fall Flowers DS paper (green pattern) - 4 1/4" x 5"

* Soft Sky CS - 3" x 4 1/4"

* Real Rust CS - 2 3/4" x 4"

* Fall Flowers DS Paper (tan pattern) - 2 1/2" x 3 3/4"

I then used my SU! scallop punch with Soft Sky paper, stamped my sentiment on Whisper White with Old Olive ink, then used my 1 3/8" circle punch and adhered the two items together.

I stamped 4 flowers in Real Rust ink, and used the 1 3/8" circle punch on two of them. I cut out each flower, and used dimensionals and my stylus to give them a little pop. A little chocolate taffeta ribbon, and it's all done!

Have a wonderful Saturday!!! :)

Days where nothing really goes the way you're hoping it will... Alarm not going off and getting up 2 hours late... Really bad traffic... Personnel issues at work... Ah well, today is over and tomorrow will be here soon enough. :)

Not sure I'm crazy about this card, but I'm posting it just the same! :)

Oh where, oh where...

Did my mojo go? :) I've been in a serious slump for the past week or so, and I'm hoping that it's not going to be sticking around for a while. I mean, hello, how can you NOT think of a million and one ways to use the new stamps?? Sure beats me, but that's where I'm at. :)

This is a card I created using the new stamp set Fabulous. Love the huge Dahlia! It's a little hard to tell in the photo, but I stamped the flower 4 times in Groovy Guava, and then cut out different layers to give it some dimension.

I started with a Chocolate Chip card base of 4 1/4" x 5 1/2", and cut out three other layers: 4" x 5 1/4" Groovy Guava, 3 3/4" x 5" Soft Sky, and 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" Whisper White. I used the ticket punch to cut out the corners, and adhered the Groovy Guava layer to the Chocolate Chip base. I stamped my sentiment then wrapped the Soft Sky stitched ribbon around the Soft Sky and Whisper White layers and assembled the rest of the card.

Details:

Stamps - Fabulous

Paper - Chocolate Chip, Groovy Guava, Soft Sky, Whisper White

Miscellaneous - Soft Sky double-stitched ribbon

For some reason, I had a really hard time with this one, but I think it turned out okay. :) I couldn't decide on a color for the base of the card, then I couldn't find paper I wanted to use, then I couldn't find the right stamp set. LOL, I was a mess!

Stamps - Hugs & Wishes, Petals & Paisleys
Ink - So Saffron, Pretty in Pink, Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Cool Caribbean

Congrats Card

Originally I started out making this card for the Sketch This Cards Challenge # 19. You can find the challenge here. I thought it would be fun to try to make the flower look like a star, but I still think it looks more like a flower. :)

I started with a 4" square card base in Blue Bayou, then cut a 3 3/4" square out of Soft Sky. I layered a 3 1/2" square of Whisper White on the Soft Sky, then wrapped the polka dot ribbon around the front. I stamped 5 petals in Purely Pomegranate, layed them out in the shape of a star, and adhered them to the flower center in So Saffron. I used two pop dots to give the flower some dimension, then stamped my sentiment in Blue Bayou.

Details:

Stamps - Pick a Petal, Polka Dots & Petals, KF Snap Stamps 1/8 Casual

Ink - Purely Pomegranate, So Saffron, Blue Bayou

Paper - Blue Bayou, Soft Sky, Whisper White

Miscellaneous - Green Ribbon w/Polka Dots

Warm Wishes

This card was created for the Splitcoaststampers CC121 color challenge. It was my first time participating in one of their color challenges, and it was totally fun! CC121's challenge was to use Pretty In Pink, Chocolate Chip and Old Olive... No other rules! :)

I started with a Chocolate Chip square card base of 5 1/2", and then used my corner rounder to scallop the bottom edge. Then I cut out a piece of 4 3/4" square Pretty In Pink card stock and scalloped the bottom as well. The Whisper White was cut to 4 1/2" square. The Fancy Pants Bella Brush acrylic stamp was tapped with Old Olive ink and positioned on the WW card stock. Chocolate chip ink was then used on the flower image, and Pretty In Pink was stamped onto a smaller flower image which nested nicely into the Chocolate flower. I used my paper piercer to place holes in the center of the flowers and inserted my green Ice Rhinestone Brads. I also used Chocolate Chip for the Warm Wishes sentiment. Fast and fun! :)

Details:

Stamps - Fancy Pants Bella Brush, SU! Hugs & Wishes

Ink - Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip

Paper - Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip

Miscellaneous - Green Ice Rhinestone Brad

I've Been Tagged!

How cool is that?? :) Kimberly over at Crafty Me tagged me... If you've never visited her site, you should definitely go and check it out! I've never been tagged before, so this is a treat!

I'm supposed to list 7 little known things about me... Okaaaaaay, here goes:

1) My middle name is Inglish... No, that's not a typo. :P I was born in England (both of my parents were stationed there), and my mom thought it would be funny. LOL, no, seriously, she thought it would be unique.

2) All throughout my childhood, I wanted to be a Veterinarian... When I went to college back in '95, I started out as a pre-vet major, but soon learned I couldn't hurt an animal even if it was going to help them in the end. So I changed my mind and decided I wanted to be a Medical Examiner. LOL, quite the switch, eh? I never followed through with the schooling, but maybe some day...

3) I am an 80's child and I'm not ashamed to admit it! :) I love everything 80's... Music, movies, clothing. Okay, maybe not the clothing, but I do love the 80's! :P

4) I just found my first gray hair the other day... LOL

5) I'm a project-a-holic. I take on too many projects all the time, and never seem to finish any of them... Especially around the house. :(

6) I'm a night owl... I'd much rather stay up all night than get up early. Mornings? Ugh!

7) I worry about things happening to my daughter... LOL, and she's only 2. I have some of the craziest thoughts about the bad things that could happen, but I guess that's part of being a mom. If you would've asked me 5 years ago if I'd ever think twice about letting my future kids go on a roller coaster, I'd have laughed at you. Now, I'm not so sure. :P

Okay, so you all know I'm a huge dork... :P LOL
