Another Altered Tin

I had such a fun time with the last tin I made that I just HAD to make another... LOL We have a secret sister program at our church, so I thought it would be a great gift for her. I don't think my SS is a stamper, so instead of filling it with stamped images on WCP, I made 4 fall-themed cards.
I used the same stamp set last time for the pumpkin image, and followed the same steps in my last post to emboss the images onto the DVD tin.

To make the belly band, I started with a 2 3/4 x 12" strip of Fall Flowers DS paper, then cut another strip of 2 3/4 x 12" Fall Flowers DS patterned paper and scalloped the outside edges using my corner rounder. Once that was done, I cut a final strip of Fall Flowers DS paper (2 1/2 x 12") and attached my layers together. The next step was to cut a small piece of Really Rust CS to run through the paper crimper before adhering to the Fall Flowers DS strips and attaching the chipboard letter k.

Here are the cards I made for the inside of the DVD tin:

I wanted the cards to be similar since they were a "set", and that also helped speed up production somewhat.

For each of the cards, I started with a standard card base of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2", then cut out a second CS layer (4 x 5 1/4"), as well as an Old Olive DS layer (3 7/8 x 5 1/8"). Once those two layers were cut out, I used my ticket corner punch on each one and then adhered them together.

The next step was to stamp out my images onto WCP and color them in using a variety of inks. I'm definitely NOT great when it comes to watercoloring, but I think my non-level of skill is improving a little each

time. LOL

While I was waiting for the images to dry, I stamped out my sentiments onto 1 x 2 1/4" strips of Very Vanilla or Whisper White CS, then layered them with a coordinating color of CS (1 1/4 x 2 1/2") before mounting them onto a piece of CS (1 1/2 x 2 3/4") that had been run through the crimper. Once those layers were assembled, I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch small holes for my taffeta ribbon to pass through and then attached them to the larger layers.

Once the images were dry, I cut them down to size either by using my mega square punch (picnic basket and pumpkin images) or my paper trimmer (flower and apple images). I then layered them with a giga scallop square punch of CS, and attached mini-pop dots before adhering them to another square (approx. 2 1/2") and finally, the card base.

Altered DVD Tin

I'd never embossed a tin before, but I always loved the end result, so I figured I'd give it a shot... Whoaaaaa, I'm halfway there. LOL, sorry, the 80's girl in me kicked into overdrive. I promise to refrain from outbursts of Bon Jovi for the remainder of this post... :P

I made this for a friend of mine, who is always such a great friend to me. I was thinking about creating cards to fill the inside of the tin, but in the end decided to stamp out a bunch of images on WCP for her.

I started by stamping the pumpkin image randomly on the cover of the DVD tin, then sprinkling silver embossing powder and heating with my heat gun. I set the tin aside to cool, and started working on the belly band.

I cut a piece of Soft Sky Textured CS (3 x 12") to fit around the outside of the tin, as well as a piece of Fall Flowers DS (2 3/4 x 12") paper. I used my corner rounder to scallop the edge of the patterned paper, then attached it to the textured CS.

Next, I cut a strip of Really Rust CS (2 x 4") and ran it through my crimper. I also cut out another piece of Fall Flowers DS (1 3/4 x 3 3/4") paper, and a 1 1/2 x 3 1/2" piece of Whisper White. My sentiment was stamped in Chocolate Chip, and the corners were punched before attaching them together and adding the Soft Sky Double Stitched Ribbon.

CC133 - Thanks a Latte

Tuesday's SCS CC133 Color Challenge was to use More Mustard, Old Olive and Bashful Blue... Definitely not my usual soft colors, but I guess it's okay to venture outside the box every once in a while, right? Right?? LOL... I don't know why I always want to reach for Soft Sky or Groovy Guava, but I do know that I'm sure going to miss them when next year's In Colors come out.

I started with a standard sized card base (4 1/4 x 5 1/2") in More Mustard, then cut out my Chocolate Chip (4 x 5 1/4") and Basic Grey Mellow patterned paper (3 7/8 x 5 1/8") before using the ticket corner punch.

Next, I paper pieced the dress from my image using another piece of Basic Grey Mellow patterned paper, then colored in the image using Creamy Caramel, Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip and Old Olive inks. I also used my Quickie Glue Pen on the coffee steam, and used White Gold Glitter to give it a little sparkle. This image was one of ~many~ Lynn was sweet enough to send me through SCS WishRAK.

Once my image was dry, I cut it out and adhered it to a piece of More Mustard CS, then attached that to an Old Olive giga scallop before layering it with another piece of Basic Grey's Mellow paper line and Bashful Blue CS.

To finish it up, I added Very Vanilla Taffeta & Sheer Brown Polka Dot ribbons to the card front, as well as stamping "thanks a latte" with my Karen Foster Snap Stamps. Unfortunately, it doesn't show up well in the photo. LOL, it's there, I promise! :)

FS33 - Featured Stamper

I made this card on Sunday, but didn't have a chance to post it until now. I've been feeling sick since Monday afternoon, so this was the last card I created! Yikes! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that tomorrow will be better! :)

Sunday's featured stamper was starofmay, and she has a lot of AWESOME stuff in her gallery!

I really liked this card in her gallery, so when I CASEd it, I really only changed the colors of the paper/image, and the ribbon.

I started with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" card base of Wild Wasabi textured CS, then added a strip of Soft Sky ribbon.

Next, I stamped my image in Stazon Brown ink, then colored it in using Groovy Guava, Chocolate Chip and Wild Wasabi inks.

While I was waiting for the image to dry, I cut out my remaining layers: Soft Sky (2 1/2 x 3 1/4") and Groovy Guava (3 x 3 3/4"). Once my image was dry, I adhered all my layers together (used pop dots to separate the SS and GG layers), then stamped my sentiment in Chocolate Chip.

Super fast, but cute!

Sketch 2 - Thinking of You

I used a great sketch on Laura's blog (The Stampin' Soldier) to make this card. You can find the original sketch here. This is the card that I sent out to Victoria... If you haven't read her story, please take a moment and visit Beate's site Fresh & Fun.

I started with the standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" card base of So Saffron, then layered it with Chocolate Chip (4 x 5 1/4") and Linen Prints (3 7/8 x 5 1/8") after using the Ticket Corner Punch.

The next thing I did was cut out a 2" strip of pink patterned Linen Prints paper, and scalloped the edges using my Corner Rounder. I then cut out my green patterned paper (1 5/8 x 4 1/4") and chocolate chip CS (1 3/4 x 4 1/4"), then adhered them all together before attaching it to the card base.

I then stamped my sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink onto Very Vanilla CS (1 1/8 x 1 3/4"), then layered it on Old Olive (1 1/4 x 1 7/8") and So Saffron (1 3/8 x 2"). I stamped my flowers in Pretty In Pink and Chocolate Chip inks, then cut them out and attached them with pop dots.

CC132, SC142 - Give Thanks

I haven't had much time to stamp this week, so I thought I'd try to combine a couple of challenges. This card was created for the SCS Color Challenge (CC132), and the Sketch Challenge (SC142) this week.

I started with a standard Really Rust card base of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2". I then cut out my other main layers: Chocolate Chip (3 1/2 x 4 3/4"), River Rock (3 3/8 x 4 5/8"), Apple Cider DS (3 1/8 x 4 1/2"). After I cut out my layers, I used my Ticket Corner Punch on two of the layers, then adhered them all together before attaching them to the Really Rust card base.

Next, I stamped my main image with Stazon Brown ink on WCP, then colored in the image. While I was waiting for the image to dry, I cut out the layers for my image... Chocolate Chip (1 5/8 x 2 3/4") and River Rock (1 3/4 x 3").

I stamped my sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink onto River Rock CS, then cut it down to 1 1/8 x 4 1/4". Then I cut out my Chocolate Chip layer (1 1/4 x 4 3/8"), and attached the two together. To wrap things up, I assembled all my layers, and attached them to the card base.

Baby Shower Card...

I think Beate's sketch last week is one of my all time favorites... It's just so fun, and it's really versatile. It's definitely a layout that I will be using more in the future.

The papers that I used with this card were from Crate Paper's Birdie line... I love most of the new lines out by Crate Paper... They are SO pretty! It's a little hard to see the true colors in this photo, but I think these colors were perfect for a baby shower card.

Our kitty, Kylie...

LOL, look at that belly!! I was sitting here typing on my laptop when I looked over and Kylie was leaning back maxin' and relaxin'... Kylie is such a sweetie, but she's HUGE! LOL She weighs about as much as a Corgie these days (somewhere between 26-30 lbs). We have other cats, but none of them are even close to being overweight... LOL, not sure where she gets it from, but she's our not-so-little cutie!

It's Been a Looong Week...

One of the ladies at our church is getting ready to have her first baby in November... Anyone who knows me knows that I love to shop for baby stuff. :)

Her shower is tomorrow morning, so I've been working on a few things... Hopefully I'll get a chance to take pictures of the other items tonight. This is the diaper cake that I made for her. I wish I could've gotten a better photo, but alas, this is the best I could do. :P

WSC19 - Warmest Wishes...

I finally got some time last night to use Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #19... Whoohoo! I should be working, but I wanted to post this first. Yes, that's right, my priorities are in order... LOL :)

I started with a 5 1/4" square card base of Purely Pomegranate textured CS, then cut out my other layers: Groovy Guava (5 x 5"), Darling Doodles (4 7/8 x 4 7/8"). Once those were cut out, I used my ticket corner punch on the Groovy Guava and Darling Doodles layers, then attached them to the card base.

Next, I stamped my Touch of Nature flower onto WCP in Stazon Black ink and used my Purely Pomegranate, Groovy Guava and Wild Wasabi ink pads to watercolor my image.

While that was drying, I cut out my other layers: Purely Pomegranate textured CS (1 x 5 1/4"), Darling Doodles (3 x 4 1/2") and Groovy Guava (2 1/4 x 3 3/4"). I adhered my Darling Doodles paper to the card base, then trimmed my stamp image to fit onto the Groovy Guava layer. Once that was cut, I attached the two layers to the card base and stamped my sentiment in black ink.

To wrap it up, I attached Wild Wasabi ribbon to the flower stem, then added Groovy Guava and White Taffeta ribbons to the Purely Pomegranate textured CS before attaching it to the card base.

SC141 - From Me to You...

Happy Saturday! It's beautiful outside where we are, and yet, here I am... LOL, doesn't seem right! :)

This card was created for the SCS SC141 Sketch Challenge... This was a toughy, but fun!

I started with a 5 1/4" square card base of textured Wild Wasabi CS, then scalloped the edge of the card. Next, I cut out my various layers of Fall Flowers DS (7/8 x 5 1/4", 2 7/8 x 5 1/4") and Soft Sky CS (1 x 5 1/4", 3 x 5 1/4"), and then adhered them together.

For the main image, I punched 4 giga scalloped squares in Real Rust, then layered them together, before attaching my Sahara Sand and Soft Sky squares. I punched my main image out using a mega square punch, then colored in the image with Soft Sky, Sahara Sand, Groovy Guava and Wild Wasabi inks.

To wrap this up, I attached the Soft Sky Double Stitched ribbon to my small panel, then attached it to the card base along with the other panel. I stamped my sentiment in Wild Wasabi onto a scrap piece of Sahara Sand. I punched that out with the window punch, and layered it on Soft Sky and Wild Wasabi paper. I then attached the sentiment and the main image to the card using pop dots.

Norma's Birthday Challenge

I made this card last night after visiting Julee Tilman's blog Poetic Artistry and seeing her post about Norma's Birthday Challenge. Norma's MIL is getting ready to celebrate her 90th birthday and just received some really sad news.

Red isn't a color that I normally work with, but what the birthday girl wants, the birthday girl gets! :)

I started with the standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" card base of Real Red CS. I then cut out my other two layers: Basic Black (4 x 5 1/4") and Whisper White (3 7/8 x 5 1/8"). I stamped the Whisper White layer with the Baroque BG stamp inked with Real Red. I really wanted to keep this card design simple because I love the background stamp and didn't want to over power it.

Once the ink had dried, I attached my White Taffeta ribbon to my BB and WW layer, then attached them to the card base. To finish off the card, I stamped my sentiment in Basic Black ink on Whisper White (1 3/8 x 2 1/2"), then layered it on Real Red (1 3/4 x 2 5/8") and Basic Black (1 5/8 x 2 3/4").

They grow up SO quickly!

We went to Kiddie Kandids this morning to get some pictures of Lindsay... Normally it's hit or miss with her because she has a really hard time sitting still so you never know whether or not you'll be able to get a "good" photo. Truth be told, I love every photo of my daughter, because it's my baby girl, but you know what I mean! Sometimes it's nice to get a sweet smile instead of a scrunched up face! :) LOL

I can't believe how grown up my little two year old looks in this picture! It's unreal to think of the difference between last year and this year... wow! I'll have to see if I can dig up a photo we had taken of her at Thanksgiving... It's night and day!

This is one of the first images I received from Wish-RAK on SCS... Isn't Fluffles the cutest?! I thought I would try to branch out and NOT make a card that uses flowers as the main image... LOL, that was tough!

I started with a standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" card base of Blue Bayou CS, then stamped it with the Bitty Blossoms background with the coordinating ink. Once that was dry, I used my Sakura White Gel Pen to highlight the flower centers on the background.

Next, I used different inks to watercolor the Fluffles image (2 1/4 x 2 1/4"), and while that was drying, I cut out my other layers: Sahara Sand (2 3/8 x 2 3/8"), Soft Sky (2 1/2 2 1/2"), Sage Shadow (2 5/8 x 2 5/8"). Once the layers were cut, I used the ticket punch on the corners, and adhered the layers together and attached it to the card with pop dots.

Then I cut out a strip of Soft Sky DS paper, and layered it with Sahara Sand and a scalloped piece of Sage Shadow. To finish this off, I attached a piece of Blue Bayou Double Stitched Ribbon and added Groovy Guava Double Stitched Ribbon accents.

CC131 - Birthday wishes

This week's SCS CC131 Color Challenge was to use Purely Pomegranate, Taken With Teal and Always Artichoke. I didn't think these colors were going to be all that great together, but boy I was wrong! I really like this color combo! :)

I started out with a 5 1/4" square card base of Purely Pomegranate, and stamped it with the Paisley background using the coordinating ink.

Once that was complete, I stamped my main image in Stazon Brown ink on a 2 1/8 x 5 1/4" strip of Whisper White, then colored it in with diluted Purely Pomegranate, Taken With Teal and Always Artichoke inks.

While the ink was drying, I cut out the Chocolate Chip (2 1/4 x 5 1/4") and Taken With Teal (2 1/2 x 5 1/4") layers, and then used my corner rounder to scallop the edge of the Taken With Teal layer.

To finish off the card, I assembled all the layers, attached them to the card and stamped the sentiment. I also used Making Memories Clear Glaze on the flowers, but you can't really see the shine in the photo. Better luck next time! :)

Weekend Sketch Challenge #18

It's that time of the week again... Time for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge! Whoohoo! :) You can find the details of the challenge here.

I started with a 5 1/4" square card base of True Thyme, then cut out my other two layers: Ruby Red 3 1/4 x 3 3/4", Fancy Pants Aged Florals 3 x 3 1/2". Once I had the layers cut out, I used my corner rounder to scallop the outer edge of the Aged Florals paper, then adhered the two layers together.

Next, I inked up my flourish from Season of Joy in True Thyme ink, and just kind of eyeballed the placement. :) Then I added my Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon to the card base before attaching my layers and stamping my sentiment in Chocolate Chip.

Lastly, I used my scallop punch on a piece of Chocolate Chip CS, then used my 1 3/8" circle punch on the reverse side of the Aged Florals patterned paper. I stamped the star in So Saffron on Very Vanilla CS, then used Making Memories Pearl Glaze before I cut it out and attached it using pop dots.

SC140 - Missing You

Happy Friday everyone!! :)

This card was created for the SCS SC140 Sketch Challenge. It's a great sketch that can lend itself to cards that are more involved or cards that are on the simple side (like mine...lol).

I started with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" card base of Soft Sky Textured CS. Then I cut out my other layers: Sahara Sand 4 x 4", Groovy Guava DS 3 3/4 x 3 3/4". I used my corner rounder to scallop the bottom of the SS and GG layers, then used my ticket punch on the top corners. Then I stamped the Baroque Motifs flourish onto the Groovy Guava DS before attaching the two layers.

I then stamped three flowers in Soft Sky onto Whisper White and painted them with Making Memories Glitter Glaze. While I was waiting for that to dry, I attached my Kraft Taffeta Ribbon, and punched out my Soft Sky and Sahara Sand ovals using the large oval punch. I stamped my sentiment in Groovy Guava onto Whisper White, then punched it out using my small oval punch. To finish off the card, I used my 5 petal flower punch on the flowers, and attached them using dimensionals.

CC130 Color Challenge

Here's the card I made yesterday for SCS's CC130 Color Challenge.

I started with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" card base of Groovy Guava, then inked up my So Swirly wheel with the coordinating ink and ran it across the base. Once that was done, I used my corner rounder to scallop the edge of the bottom of the card, and punched the holes using my crop-a-dile.

I then cut out the Always Artichoke (3 3/4 x 5") and Basic Grey Infuse (3 1/2 x 4 3/4") layers, and used my ticket punch on the corners.

Next, I stamped three flowers, then coated them with Making Memories Clear Glaze. While I was waiting for the flowers to dry, I cut out a strip of Groovy Guava and Always Artichoke paper. I used my corner rounder again to scallop the edge of the Groovy Guava paper, and then attached the layers before stamping my sentiment and adhering it to the card with Chocolate Taffeta Ribbon.

Once the flowers were dry, I cut them out and used pop dots to give them a little dimension. Quick and easy! :)

Silly girl...

My 2 year old has what my grandma likes to call "soft feelings"... LOL, aren't grandma's great? It basically means she'll cry if you tell her no or she isn't being nice, or you look at her like you aren't pleased with what she's doing. Very sensitive at times... Not always, but often enough.

What stands out most to me in this picture is Lindsay's little red nose. It makes me chuckle a little because two seconds before this picture was snapped, she was in the midst of a tantrum because we wouldn't let her play with play-doh. Funny how pointing a camera at her and saying "smile" can make a 2 year old go from one extreme to the other... LOL

TLC132 - Believe...

This card was created for SCS's Technique Challenge TLC132... Loved this one! :) The tutorial on how to create a surprise pop-up card can be found here.

I started with a Purely Pomegranate card stock base of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2", then cut out the following layers: Groovy Guava 4 x 5 1/4", Whisper White 3 7/8 x 5 1/8", Making Memories Funky Vintage Patterned Paper 3 3/4 x 5", So Saffron 2 1/2 x 4".

After cutting out the various layers, I cut the slide portion of the card. I left a 1" margin on 3 sides, and scored the remaining 1" margin at the top of the card. I also scored about a 1/2" from the bottom of the slide piece, and halfway between the two score marks... LOL, sounds confusing, but it's not so bad! :)

I then used my scallop punch to make a little notch in the top of the patterned paper. After that, I used tacky tape to attach the So Saffron layer to the patterned paper. Once that was secure, I attached all the layers. To finish off the card, I stamped my sentiment in Purely Pomegranate ink, used the scallop punch on a scrap of paper on the reverse side of the pattern, and punched out two circles (1 3/8", 1 1/4"). I stamped my flower in So Saffron ink, used the Making Memories Pearl Glaze on it to soften the image, then cut it out and attached it to the scallop with a pop dot and a clear rhinestone brad.

WSC #17

I finally got a chance to stamp... Whoohoooo!! Here's what I came up with for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #17... If, for some crazy reason, you haven't had a chance to visit her site and drool over her beautiful creations... Get over there already! :)

I started with a 5 1/4" square card base of Soft Sky CS. I then inked up my So Swirly Jumbo Wheel with Soft Sky and rolled it across the bottom of the card.

The next thing I did was cut out the layers for the center of the card: striped paper (2 1/2 x 5 1/4"), Sahara Sand (2 3/4 x 5 1/4"), other patterned paper (2 x 5 1/4"). I used my Slit Punch to make the scallop edge, and then used the leftover reverse image for the top of the center panel. I layered all my pieces and added the ribbon before attaching it to the card base.

Lastly, I worked on the scalloped circle. I used my Coluzzle (line 7) to create the Real Rust circle, then used my corner rounder to give it a scalloped edge. After all the scallops were punched, I used my Crop-A-Dile to cut the holes in the scallops. I then cut out my other circles: Pretty In Pink (line 6), Whisper White (line 4). I inked up the So Swirly Jumbo Wheel with Real Rust ink and ran it over the Pretty In Pink circle.

For the main image I stamped the stem in Wild Wasabi once on a piece of scrap paper, then stamped it on my Whisper White circle. I then used the flourish stamp in So Saffron a few times before attaching my main flower with a mini pop dot. After I attached the flower I thought it would be fun to give it a little sparkle... LOL, why don't I think about these things BEFORE attaching them?? :) I used a little scrap piece of paper to protect the card, and used my Making Memories Glittler Glaze on top of the flower. So cute!

I'm the Featured Stamper!

I don't have a project yet for today, but I'm hoping that later tonight I'll have a chance to finish up the card I'm creating for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #17. :)

I just wanted to make a little announcement because I'm a geek like that (LOL)... I was selected as the Featured Stamper on SCS today! How fun!!

I'm still trying to figure out how I was picked in the first place (I'm an okay stamper, definitely not the best!), but I am SOOOOO thrilled!!! It's so silly I know, but I get giddy when I think about it. There are so many talented and creative people over at SCS, it really is just such an honor to be thought of!

Long Time No Post, Eh?

Wow, it's hard to believe it's been 4 days since my last post! I usually stamp/create when everyone's gone to bed for the night, but lately I've been the one heading off to bed first! LOL, no 2 am stamp sessions this week!

I received this awesome card from MJ Albright over at Beauty Lies Within. MJ is uber creative, and this card is just amazing! The photo really doesn't do it justice... She puts the most incredible amount of detail into every single one of her cards. Just on this one alone there is everything from faux stitching, to sponging layers, to the texture of the grass, to masking the animals, to the dimension of the little animals! This card is just fabulous! I really wish I could've captured it better in my photo!

MJ had a raffle back in mid July to celebrate reaching 2,500 hits, and ended up making 15 of these for the people who posted comments... SO sweet!! If you haven't been to over to her site yet, what are you waiting for?! :)
