Weekend Sketch Challenge 24

This is what I came up with for Beate's WSC24 Weekend Sketch Challenge. You can find Beate's original sketch on her blog here.

I started with a 5 1/4" square card base of Really Rust, then cut out the 5" square Chocolate Chip and 4 7/8" square Apple Cider DS layers.

Then I stamped the large flower from Jolies Fleurs onto Watercolor Paper in Stazon Timber Brown ink three times and colored them in using River Rock, Really Rust, Old Olive and Chocolate Chip inks.

While the flowers were drying, I cut out the River Rock (3 x 3 3/4") and Chocolate Chip (3 1/8 x 3 7/8") layers for the backdrop.

Next, I cut out the layers for the small panel: Really Rust (2 1/8 x 3"), Chocolate Chip (2 x 3"), and Apple Cider DS (1 7/8 x 3"). I adhered the layers together, then tied a piece of Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon before attaching it to the card base with the CC and Apple Cider DS layers I cut earlier. Once those were attached to the card base, I adhered the backdrop for the flowers.

To finish this off, I stamped my sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink, and added glitter to my flower centers before attaching them to the card with mini pop dots.

Details:

Stamps - Lizzie Anne Designs Jolies Fleurs, All Seasons
Paper - Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, River Rock, WCP, Apple Cider DSP
Ink - Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Really Rust, River Rock
Miscellaneous - Chocolate Chip Satin Ribbon, Art Glitters Clear Glitter, Chocolate Chip/Old Olive/Really Rust Stampin' Write Markers

TLC139 - Thank U Box

I finally had a chance last night to finish this up, and wanted to make sure I got a chance to post this before too much time went by. :)

This Peek-a-Boo box was created for the TLC139 Technique Lover's challenge. The template for the box can be found on the SCS web site in the challenge thread.

I started with a 4 x 9 1/2" piece of Apple Cider DS paper, and scored/cut it out according to the dimensions given on SCS. Once the paper had been scored and cut as needed, I used my Crop-a-dile to punch holes into the sides of the box. After the holes were punched, I assembled the box, and then weaved the Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon around the box.

Once that was done, I punched a hole in the center panel using my 1 1/4" circle punch, and then stamped the small True Friend flower image onto a 2" square piece of Acetate using Gold pigment ink.

I then stamped my sentiment in Really Rust onto Very Vanilla CS, and layered it with Chocolate Chip and River Rock CS before attaching it to the underside of the lid.

Next, I used my scallop punch on a piece of River Rock CS, then punched out a 1 3/8" piece of Chocolate Chip CS, and a 1 1/4" piece of Really Rust CS.

For the main image, I used my Old Olive, Really Rust and Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Markers to color in the flower, then cut it out leaving a small 1/4" piece of paper at the bottom. I cut a slit in the Really Rust 1 1/4" circle, and then slid the flower into place and secured it with mono adhesive. The different layers were then adhered together and before attaching it to the Peek-a-Boo box, I added various sizes of the Stampendous Stick-a-peel stickers to the image.

Details:
Stamps - True Friend
Paper - Apple Cider DS, River Rock, Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, Very Vanilla
Ink - Really Rust, Gold Pigment Ink, Chocolate Chip/Old Olive/Really Rust Stampin' Write Markers
Miscellaneous - Stampendous Stickers, Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, Acetate

SC146 - Ever Grateful

This was created for the SC146 Sketch Challenge on SCS. I hadn't tried the cracked glass technique before, but it was a lot of fun, and really adds a nice touch.

I started with a standard card base of Blue Bayou CS, then stamped it with the floral background stamp in Blue Bayou ink.

Next, I stamped my image in Stazon Black ink onto watercolor paper, and then colored it in using Purely Pomegranate, Blue Bayou, Old Olive and Always Artichoke ink.

While I was waiting for my image to dry, I cut out all of the other layers: Blue Bayou 2 3/8 x 4 3/8", Purely Pomegranate 2 1/2 x 4 1/2", Old Olive DS 3 x 4 1/4", Blue Bayou 3 1/8 x 4 1/4" and Purely Pomegranate 3 1/4 x 4 1/4".

I adhered the different layers together, then added the Very Vanilla Ribbon to the Old Olive DS layer before attaching it to the card base. Once my image was dry, I inked it up with Versamark ink, then sprinkled it with UTEE. I tapped off the excess, then heat set it. Once it cooled a littled, I repeated the process two more times to get a thick embossed layer over my image. As soon as the image was fully cool, I started bending it in different areas to get the cracks in the areas I wanted. I then attached it to the corresponding Blue Bayou and Purely Pomegranate layers, and adhered it to the card.

To finish it up, I stamped my sentiment in Always Artichoke ink on Very Vanilla CS, then used my small oval punch to punch it out. It was then layered on a piece of Blue Bayou CS punched out with the large oval punch.

Details:
Stamps - Still Life Stems, So Many Sayings
Ink - Purely Pomegranate, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Black Stazon, Blue Bayou
Paper - Blue Bayou, Purely Pomegranate, WCP, Old Olive DS, Very Vanilla
Miscellaneous - Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon, UTEE, Versamark Pad

SC145 - You Make Me Happy

This card was created for the SC145 Sketch Challenge on SCS. I struggled a bit trying to figure out what paper I wanted to use... I knew I wanted to use Linen Prints and Old Olive, but I couldn't for the life of me decide which pattern to use. At first I was using another piece, but then finally settled on this pink pattern after flipping the two about a hundred times. LOL

I started with a standard card base in Old Olive, then cut off 1" from the right margin. I then cut out my Chocolate Chip (3 x 5 1/4") and Linen Prints DS (2 3/4 x 5") layers. I added a strip of Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon to the two layers before attaching them to the card base. The sentiment was then stamped in Chocolate Chip.

The flower was stamped in Regal Rose on Very Vanilla CS, then embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. Once it cooled, I cut it out and mounted it on a piece of Very Vanilla CS using a pop dot. I also cut out a piece of Chocolate Chip and green Linen Prints DS paper to layer my image. The Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip pieces had the corners punched before mounting onto the green Linen Prints DS paper and attached to the card base.

Details:
Stamps - Flowers & Flourish, So Many Sayings
Ink - Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip
Paper - Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Linen Prints DS
Miscellaneous - Clear Embossing Powder, Ticket Corner Punch, Very Vanilla Tafetta Ribbon

I Still Bounce!

I had a card lined up that I wanted to post today, but unfortunately, Blogger is having some issues with their photo uploading software. So, I thought I'd just share a little bit about the new happenings here at home. "I still bounce" probably sounds like an odd title for a blog post, but it'll seem very appropriate shortly! LOL

Sooooo... I wake up this morning at 4 am because I just wasn't feeling right, and thought I'd go down to the bathroom downstairs so I don't wake Lindsay (her room shares a wall with the upstairs bath). She isn't known for being a light sleeper, but no one in the house is normally up at 4 am, so I didn't want the unfamiliar sounds of someone walking around to wake her up. I went to bed around 2 am, so I'm really loopy from only getting 2 hours sleep so far. I grab onto the handrail of the staircase and make it about ohh 3 steps before my foot slips and off I go bouncing butt-first down the remaining stairs. LOL, I bet it was a hilarious sight. Where is that camcorder when you really need one??? I swear, I am one of ~THE~ clumsiest people on ths planet. Luckily, nothing is broken, though a lot of different places are a bit sore and bruised today... The bottoms of both of my forearms, my tush, rib cage, neck and forth toe on my left foot are great reminders of how fast silly things can happen. The silver lining? I didn't wake anyone up! Go me! LOL

You Make Me Smile

Both Fe-Fe and Corie nominated me for the You Make Me Smile Award... Thank you both, you really are too sweet!! :)

I've only been blogging since March of this year, and I have to say, it really means so much to me that people will stop by and post such nice comments. I know how busy life can be, so I just wanted to make sure I said thank you for taking the time to leave me a note! So, THANK YOU!

I'd love to nominate everyone on my blog roll, but that would be a ~LOT~ of hyperlinking for me to do! LOL So, I'm just going to give this to everyone who's ever stopped by and left me a comment. Consider yourself nominated because you definitely made me smile!

Weekend Sketch Challenge 23

I'm caught up!!! :)

This card ended up being a bit of a stretch from the original sketch, but this is what I came up with for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge 23. You can find her original post with the sketch here.

I started with a 4 1/2" square card base of Sage Shadow, then cut out my Whisper White (4 1/4" square) and Soft Sky (4 1/8" square) layers.

Then, I inked up the large flourish stamp from Baroque Motifs with Sage Shadow and stamped it onto the Soft Sky layer. I attached the WW and SS layer together before adhering them to the card base.

Next, I glued my On Board Blossoms & Basics chipboard flower to a piece of Groovy Guava DS paper, then cut it out with my exacto knife. I used my Basic Grey Precision File Kit to sand down the edges of the flower before using Mod Podge and sprinkling the flower with Transparent Glitter.

While that was drying, I cut out a 1 1/4 x 2 1/4" piece of Sahara Sand and stamped my sentiment with Groovy Guava ink. I then cut out a 1 3/8 x 2 3/8" piece of Sage Shadow, and used my ticket punch on the corners before adhering them together.

The flower was attached to the card base off center with two of the petals hanging slightly over the edge, and the sentiment was layered on top with pop dots. Easy peasy! :)

Details:

Stamps - Hugs & Wishes, Baroque Motifs

Ink - Sage Shadow, Groovy Guava

Paper - Sage Shadow, Whisper White, Soft Sky, Sahara Sand, Groovy Guava DS

Miscellaneous - Ticket Corner Punch, On Board Blossoms & Basics, Glitter

Weekend Sketch Challenge 22

Another one down... :) If I can do WSC23 this weekend, I'll be caught up... Yippee!

I had a hard time getting a picture that showed just how sparkly the main image is... Anyone have any good tips? I guess it would help if there was more light, but it's a little after 10:30pm... LOL

This image is one of the ones I've received as part of the SCS WishRAK group... I always thought the little bee was just too cute, but wasn't sure if I liked it enough to own it, you know? I think I have my answer now... LOL, it's always the way. How many stamps can one person accumulate???

I started with a standard card base of Purely Pomegranate, then cut out a 4 x 5 1/4" piece of So Saffron, and a 3 7/8 x 5 1/8" piece of floral Cutie Pie DS paper. I adhered the layers together, and attached them to the card base.

My next step was to cut out the round layers. The Certainly Celery layer was cut out using my Oval Coluzzle Template (largest setting). I didn't cut out the entire oval, just lined up the template so that half would be cut out. I then cut out the polka dot Cutie Pie DS layer on the second Coluzzle setting. I adhered the two together, then used my corner rounder to scallop the edge of the Certainly Celery outer layer. For a little fun, I added three small Purely Pomegranate Double Stitched ribbon loops to the top and bottom of my circle panel, then two pieces of White Taffeta ribbon. I attached that to the card base, then colored in my WishRAK image.

Once the image was dry, I added glitter to the image to give it some sparkle, then layered it on a 2 1/4 x 3 1/2" piece of Purely Pomegranate CS. To finish it off, the "just beecause" sentiment was stamped in Purely Pomegranate ink onto Certainly Celery CS, then the corner rounder was used to scallop the edge. The center panel was then attached to the card base using pop dots.

Details:

Stamps - Stampendous Bee, Karen Foster Snap Stamps 1/8 Casual Font

Ink - Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Purely Pomegranate, Basic Gray

Paper - Purely Pomegranate, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Cutie Pie DS

Miscellaneous - Art Glitter Transparent Glitters, White Taffeta Ribbon, Purely Pomegranate Double Stitched Ribbon, Corner Rounder

TLC137 & CC135 - Friends Forever

This card was created for two SCS challenges... TLC135 (technique challenge - acetate card) & CC135 (color challenge - Basic Gray, Basic Black, River Rock). I've never made an acetate card before, so didn't want to miss the opportunity. The only downside is that they're super hard to take a picture of... LOL, it almost looks like everything is floating. :P

I started with a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2" piece of acetate, and scored it in half at 4 1/4". I then stamped my design in the lower left corner in Stazon ink, then rotated the card 180 degrees so I could do the same on the other end of the card.

While I was waiting for the ink to dry, I cut out my layers: Basic Gray (2 1/2 x 3 1/4"), River Rock (2 1/4 x 3"), Very Vanilla (2 x 2 3/4"), and then used my corner rounder to scallop the bottom layer.

I then stamped my image in River Rock ink onto the Very Vanilla layer, then attached all three layers together. I cut out other layers for the inside/back of the card, and attached them as well to the card base. To finish it off, I added a piece of Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon.

Details:
Stamps - FPD From the Garden, So Many Sayings
Ink - Stazon Black, River Rock, Basic Gray
Paper - Basic Gray, River Rock, Very Vanilla
Miscellaneous - Acetate, Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon, Corner Rounder

Weekend Sketch Challenge 21

I've never made one of these file folder cards before, so I was really excited to see Beate had posted one as her Weekend Sketch Challenge 21. Two down... One more to go 'til I'm caught back up! :)

I'm going to skip posting the dimensions, as you can find them on Beate's blog (just click the link above to be taken to the tutorial)... It didn't take very long to put this card together, I think the most tedious part of the process was cutting out the flower stem... LOL, that's what I get for thinking it would be cute! :P

Thanks for stopping by! :)

Details:
Stamps - Fancy Pants Design In My Garden, So Many Sayings
Ink - Really Rust, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive
Paper - Basic Grey Mellow, Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Miscellaneous - Fire Rhinestone Brad, Tab Punch, Window Punch, Ticket Corner Punch

Weekend Sketch Challenge 20

I've been so busy lately that I've completely slacked off on something that I look forward to every Friday! :( Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenges are definitely the highlight of my week, so I'm giving it my best effort to catch up. :)

This card was created for WSC20. I started with a standard card base of So Saffron CS, then cut out my other layers: striped Cutie Pie (2 x 5 1/4"), Bashful Blue (2 3/4 x 3 1/4"), polka dot Cutie Pie (2 1/2 x 3"), Certainly Celery (2 3/4 x 3 1/4"), floral Cutie Pie (2 1/2 x 3").

I stamped my image with Stazon Black ink then colored it in using my ink pads. While I was waiting for my image to dry, I used my ticket corner punch on the smaller layers, and my corner rounder on the large strip of Cutie Pie paper.

Next, I stamped my tab with Purely Pomegranate ink and punched it out. All the different layers were assembled and attached to the card base.

Details:
Stamps - Fun & Fast Notes, Totally Tabs
Ink - Purely Pomegranate, So Saffron, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue
Paper - So Saffron, Whisper White, Cutie Pie DS, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue
Miscellaneous - Purely Pomegranate Double Stitched Ribbon, Ticket Corner Punch

SC144 - Hugs & Kisses

I made this card a few days ago for the SCS SC144 Sketch Challenge, but didn't have a chance to upload it until now...

I started with a standard card base in Groovy Guava, then used the Dilly Dally Baby wheel inked with Groovy Guava as a background.

Once that was stamped, I colored my elephants in Groovy Guava, Wild Wasabi and Purely Pomegranate inks, then cut them out.

While I was waiting for tm to dry, I cut out my other layers: Wild Wasabi (1 5/8 x 4 1/4"), floral Darling Doodles (1 3/4 x 4 1/4"), striped Darling Doodles (2 x 5 1/2"), Purely Pomegranate (1 3/4 x 5 1/2"), and Whisper White (1 5/8 x 5 1/2"). I used my corner rounder on the striped strip of Darling Doodles paper, then adhered my various layers.

Next, I added the Purely Pomegranate Double Stitched Ribbon, then attached the strips to the card base and adhered the elephants using pop dots.

To wrap things up, I stamped my sentiment in Groovy Guava, then used the small oval punch to punch it out. That was layered on top of a large Wild Wasabi oval, and half of a Purely Pomegranate scallop punch.

Details:
Stamps - Year After Year, So Many Sayings, Dilly Dally Baby Wheel
Ink - Groovy Guava, Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegranate
Paper - Groovy Guava, Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegranate, Whisper White, Darling Doodles
Miscellaneous - Purely Pomegranate Double Stitched Ribbon

Door Hangers

These are the two door hangers I made for the two gift baskets I put together in the past couple of weeks. We had a saying around our house when Lindsay was really little.... You wake her, you take her! LOL... She would be sleeping, and my husband's a little on the loud side, so it was a given, if you wake her up, you'll be the person going to tend to her, not me. LOL

I started with two plain wooden door hangers, and traced each of them twice onto a piece of patterned paper. I then cut out the front and back of the door hangers and adhered them to the wood.

Next, I typed up my sentiment and printed it out on Very Vanilla CS and cut it down to a size I liked. Once that was complete, I layered it onto cardstock with scalloped edges and then attached it to the wooden hanger.

To finish them off, I embellished them with bears, ribbon, and flowers/stickles.

Baby Shower Diaper Cake

I have another baby shower to go to tomorrow, so yes, that's right, it's time for another diaper cake! LOL, these are almost as addictive as embossing on tins!

It's a little hard to get a good picture, but you get the idea... :) They're fast to put together, and definitely draw ooh's and aah's from the other ladies attending. LOL, if nothing else, it gives you something to talk about for a minute or two. :P

Details:
4 yds sheer lime green polka dot ribbon, approx. 50 Pampers Swaddlers (size 1), 1 yd of tulle (I used very fine netting for wedding veils), cake platter, 1 large flower, and 1 flower spray.

CC134 - Thing of Beauty

Tuesday's SCS CC134 Color Challenge was to create a card using River Rock, Chocolate Chip and Blue Bayou. At first I thought this color combo was going to be really similar to CC127, where we were supposed to use Chocolate Chip, Blue Bayou and Sahara Sand. The two couldn't have been more different. It's so funny that changing just one color, even if only slightly, can really alter the look of the card.

I started with a 5 1/4" square card base of River Rock Textured CS, then cut out my other layers: Chocolate Chip (5" square), Blue Bayou (4 7/8" square), and Very Vanilla (4 3/4" square). Once my layers were cut out, I used my ticket corner punch on the layers, then adhered them together.

Next, I stamped the main image in Stazon Brown on Very Vanilla CS, and colored it using River Rock and Blue Bayou ink. LOL, the image is actually of Dandelions, but I thought they'd be pretty colored in blue. :P

While I was waiting for my image to dry, I stamped my sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink, then cut out my image layers: River Rock (2 5/8" square) and Blue Bayou (2 3/4" square). I adhered my image to the layers, then attached them to the card. To finish up, I added some Chocolate Taffeta Ribbon before adhering my card front to the card base.

Details:
Stamps - Delicate Dandelions
Ink - Stazon Brown, Chocolate Chip, Blue Bayou, River Rock
Paper - River Rock Textured CS, Chocolate Chip, Blue Bayou, River Rock, Very Vanilla
Miscellaneous - Chocolate Taffeta Ribbon, Ticket Corner Punch
